Keeping warm on the ice.
Bit of a busy sociable day - went out with the team and Fiona who's leaving tomorrow for our last 'team meeting' in a local wine bar, one of the Davy's chain. Very nice food they did there and it's always nice to have a drink at lunchtime, makes the afternoon whizz by.
Especially when you have to leave at 4pm to go and be sociable again. Arrived at Somerset House to see the Cartier-Bresson, but unfortunately because of a major hoo-hah of an opening for a new Valentino exhibition, the whole place was shutting up shop at 5, a whole hour early. I was a touch tetchy with the gallery attendants.
Found Rich, Andy C and Juliette by the Xmas tree though and we whiled away a good, cold half-hour practising our panning shots with the skaters. Rich apparently got told off for trying to use his tripod earlier by some stuffy security bods.
After the ice marshalls shooed everyone off the ice to give it a smooth-over, we walked up towards Covent Garden, stopping for Juliette to take (probably amazingly stunning) moon shots. By this time, I was struggling with the cold, if I'd had any knadgers they'd have been well and truly frozen off. But I spied across the road the very inviting Notes which advertised 'Coffee, food and wine' on its sign and looked cosy. We ran across too it while Rich narrowly missed getting run down by a taxi.
Very friendly inside, with a nice choice of snacky type stuff - platters, bread and olives, and, according to Juliette, my favourite thing - baba ganoush. Apparently I'd raved about it when we visited a mezze bar type place in Stratford, but I have no memory of it. They also did a mean homemade mulled wine.
After, I left the others to walk to Liverpool Street - well I needed to work off all that baba ganoush and wine ...
