Banks of green willow

Still a few shades of green in the park, especially with the sun shining this morning. Quite cold this evening though on the way to and from Trad Academy - today learning the 3/2 hornpipe Rusty Gully.

Surprisingly green and summery! Do you dance or play the hornpipe?

Such a beautiful shade of green and so cool looking

@janturnbull - nobody really knows how people danced to these particular hornpipes - they date from the 17th-19th century and all records of what people did to them seem to be lost!

The shade of green looks almost like spring!! Was the hornpipe exclusively a sailors dance?

@fannyb - not particularly, it's more of a rhythm than one specific dance and is (and would have been) used for country dances or even solo stepdancing (which is more akin to the idea of the sailor's hornpipe)
