Feathered Headdress by cjwhite

Feathered Headdress

This caterpillar really didn't want to have its pic taken! I disturbed it and it wanted nothing to do with me and my camera. I wonder what the record is for pics of caterpillar behinds? I certainly got a lot of them today. LOL!

It was much easier to ID the caterpillar than the shrub it's on. The caterpillar is a Banded Tussock Moth caterpillar. The shrub, which is native to our area, is a Black Haw.

I have really been overwhelmed by the wonderful comments and faves for yesterday's frog pic!!! Thank you so very much!!! :0)
Looks like an itsy bitsy skunk! Very soft looking little guy! Wonderful capture!

I found that same one a few weeks ago. But, as soon as I disturbed it, it went running off. Love the longer tufts of hair on its head! :)

This is maginificent!! Are you SURE you're in TN?? I suspect you are secretly operating from a vast landholding in the Amazon! ;-)

@tabbycat Thanks! Funny, you should say that. This time last year I saw one of the green snakes in the edge of the woods. It was before the 365, but I posted a pic on facebook and someone asked me if I lived in the Amazon. I've been going closer to the woods this week and I'm really hoping I DON'T see a snake! LOL!

I love his back legs...so weird. I know from raising hornworms that they have those 6 insect legs but their back legs are so soft and squishy...I called them "teddy bear" feet on my hornworms. So cute.
