I know this little Checkered White skipper has to be cold and lonely. I know I've been cold all day. I found it on some Queen Anne's Lace in the hay field. I wasn't looking for butterflies. I was looking for water drops. LOL! It's been really cold and rainy the last two days, so finding it was a nice surprise. :0)
I agree with Mary - a very pretty, lacy photo. We've had freezing weather here this week too Carolyn - but today it is up to 30d celsius - just gorgeous.
@murnane Thank you, Marg! I was scrolling down my homepage and saw your comment on Jennifer's lovely bird pic. Your comment about "sneaking up" on kid's shoes made me laugh until I cried!!! You are so funny! :0)
This is just so beautiful--I really like the angle you chose. Our butterflies have long gone, it's just too cold. I'm surprised this one is still around!
All the white is amazing! And, you are on this PP ....again! Haha! Very cool shot of the QA lace at this particular angle, the focus is terrific and I love his fuzzy litlte body.
Awsome, Carolyn. Another FAV. How do you find so many great shots of these wonderful butterflies? Are you an entomologist? I see you live in TN. Our daughter is in Memphis. Best wishes. Thanks for your nice compliment about my photos.
@morrisroos Thank you so much for your kind words! No, I'm not an entomologist. I taught school for 17 years, thirteen of those in kindergarten. I have always been interested in insects, but the 365 has gotten me outside and looking all around me. I knew some of the insect and flower names, but not as many as I thought. I got some really nice guides for Mother's Day. I live in the middle of five acres with fields and woods on three sides. I walk around the place and look for insects. I hang out around the wildflowers to find my butterflies. There are just a few wildflowers still blooming, so this will probably be my last week to post butterflies. There is a cold front coming in tomorrow. :0)
Hope you are all wrapped warm in this cold . X
