I didn't notice the Hover Fly, when I got this shot of the Cucumber Beetle. I have pics of the front of the beetle, but I just liked this one better. :0)
It was a beautiful blue skies day. It was 20 degrees warmer than the past two days. My picture taking time was limited. I went to a birthday party for my grandson, Drake. He will be four tomorrow. Tomorrow is my Mom's birthday, too. I'm not sure if she would appreciate me telling her age. :0)
I saw butterflies again today! I even saw a Gulf Fritillary! It didn't even give me a chance to raise my camera.

@bobfoto Yes, it's a Spotted Cucumber Beetle or Diabrotica undecimpunctata howardi. My book says they like cucumbers, but it had to settle for asters today. :0)
@cjwhite - well one of the cool things about having Asters and Cosmos in your garden is sometimes... just sometimes the Cucumber Beet;es will eat those instead of your cucs!
@pwallis Paula, my photo ops are numbered. The asters are almost gone and our nights have been really cold! I hope I can find something interesting to shoot when my insects are all gone!!! :0)
i'm going to miss your insects - i think i'm repeating myself ... anyway, this one's excellent. i love the surprises after uploading, very pretty beetle [even more so since he's not on a cuc]
Happy birthday to your grandson and your mom (and you're only as old as you feel! I get accused of being a little kid all the time, so there you go.) The colours in this are so vivid, what a wonderful capture. I would go for those flowers too if I were a bug

A cucumber beetle? Oh wow! Never heard of that, but saw one in LoganX's project I think..the other day. We were not sure what it was...I am going to tell him to come look at yours. This is great. I love it when I notice tiny bugs or hidden bugs in the pic that I did not even know I was getting!
