I thought I might be hallucinating at first. It's November 30 and we had snow showers yesterday. I saw a Clouded Sulpher butterfly in my front yard! I watched it flying and saw the general area it landed. I found it in the grass!
I knew the best way to get a shot was to lay on the cold, wet ground. So I did. I was in the front yard and fairly close to the road. I'm sure I was a sight to see! I never looked up as cars came by, but I do know at least one slowed down.LOL!
My mom got a good laugh when I told her about it. She said people probably thought I'd fallen and couldn't get up.:0)
I was also describing the butterfly to her. I told her it had pink hair on it's head. She wanted to know if I had been smoking anything while I was on the ground. I told her I would show her a pic next time I see her. :0)
Thank you so much for your nice comments on yesterday's Farm Bowl!!! :0)
First your cat makes me smile and now you make me laugh! I can imagine what the different drivers were thinking . . "should I stop and see it she needs help?" Beautiful catch of this Pink Haired beauty.
I remember the time I was walking in the woods in Omaha in February with patches of snow on the ground and saw a mourning cloak butterfly fly by. It was decades ago, but it rocked my understanding of butterflies. You got great wing detail, smoking or not.
I love the color scheme on this guy. Very pretty and lucky capture! I am still seeing an occasional moth or two, but it is usually raining at the time. :-)
Well, you did well Carolyn, and sopme extra points for going beyond to get the shot. Here's hoping you don't end up on the news, captured by a passerby LOL.
haha...your story is too funny...i want to know if any of those passing cars stop to ask if you were ok??
what an amazing find at this time of year and well worth you getting all wet and dirty...beautiful
I can't believe you are still finding butterflies. You are a true photographer. I can imagine what people must have thought to see you lying on the ground. If there had been any good Samaritans they might have felt the need to rescue you. It is a beautiful shot.
Great close up and capture! I can't believe you found a butterfly! this is a miracle. I saw one like this when it got warm several days ago and I thought I was seeing things. Perhaps I will see one tomorrow when it is supposed to get into the 50s.
Gorgeous capture Carolyn and what a funny sight you would have made lying on the wet ground. That makes me laugh. The things we 365ers do for a good photo hey!
Funny story and beautiful pic! I was surprised to see a bee in my nasturtiums a few days ago. This reminds me I wanted to post it and didn't do! Oh, perhaps for today then :-)
a miracle it is. congrats!....bring it to your cellar, put hay in a flowerpot and let him or her hibernate there....and yes, it happened to me when i was lying on the earth and taking pictures of leaves. women passing by asked me very puzzled if i feel queasy....then they saw my camera and laughed out loud.
People asks me all the time what are you doing when I take pic. LOL
A beautiful unexpected treasure, greatly captured
Thank you for fav my pic , It`s make my day
She's a beauty, and very hearty as well. I have been laying on the sidewalk for a photo, and someone came up and asked me what I was doing. Oh, the things we do for 365.
Your story is hilarious! Once, when the theme was machines, I laid down on the workroom floor to shoot the coke machine from the bottom up...it was late, thought everyone was gone. Some teacher looked in the little window in thedoor and came in....like "can I help you up?" She thought I'd passed out.
