Lapwing

Caught in the heather yesterday this Lapwing was good enough to hold still long enough for a photo. They nest on the moor and are relatively uncommon in other areas, it is nice to catch sight of one and we always look out for them in the summer as they love the moorland.

Nice clear photo. I like the bit of green and rust in the wings. I'll bet that helps to camouflage them a bit in the low vegetation.
