Resting by craftymeg

Resting

These very well fed ewes were comfortable resting on the bank side after a what looked like a banquet of fresh green grass. They had been shorn which I think in warmer weather they would love but I think temps of 12C they were not so happy about! I can’t remember such a cold year. We had these temps during winter!!
Better on black

Thank you for your lovely comments and favs all are appreciated and welcome.

They look so different without their wooly coats.

Not sure what the red is about but it looks like someone was a bit too scissor happy. Striking contrast between the black heads and light bodies.

Lovely capture, a bit mean for them to have shorn when the weathers so cold… lots of pink all over… too much

I hope they huddle together close to the wall to keep warm.

I would think it would feel extra cold right after they were shorn. Hope you get a bit more heat. I’d gladly give some of ours.

You're right about the weather. Perhaps they're lying down to keep their patch of grass dry and warm

Lovely nature shot. I hope the red is colour and not from damaged skin by poor shearing.

That does seem too cold for shearing!

Such cuties. Is this pink on the skin a disinfectant for wounds?

In answer to everyone’s questions of the pink die on the sheep. As far as I know it’s the farmers mark of ownership and sometimes they are marked with numbers to match up lambs to ewes and they are also marked in the season they are tupped so they know the ram has done his job. Each farmer has a different colour.
