This afternoon were just in time to catch this oil rig being piloted into the river Tees to be decommissioned. This was her final journey and there were quite a few folk around to see her make the trip to the final resting place which was just a little way up the river.

Great image, end of a era. When I was up in Scotland recently, there were a lot more than normal, all lined up in the Cromartry Firth. I presumed they too were there to be dismantled.
Wow what a great capture! I wonder what happens to them? Are they dismantled or just left to rust away? I bet there are lots of stories this rig could tell of life on the rig in the rough seas. A hard life for those working on them!
Great shot, takes me back to when I worked on rig supply ships, spent hour's tide up to these in the North sea delivering their food, water, and all other equipment they needed.
