The old transporter bridge in Middlesbrough, it is now retired after being too costly to repair and keep running. It’s a shame, I’ve been on the gondola as a foot passenger and always remember it. It was only a working bridge but unusual in its mechanics, it had a cradle suspended between the legs that ferried cars a handful at a time to the other side of the river. It’s been featured in many films and programs and hopefully will be up-kept as a iconic structure if nothing else, it’s years since I have taken a photo of it and I’m glad I got a few shots today.
