While out for a walk this morning, before the pouring rain, I came across this rusty chain that was stretched between two posts. I decided to try a photo of it. When I arrived back home I played with it for a while and tried various edits. I cropped out most of it and I ended up loving this finished product in Sepia. I thought I might as well include one more photo for the theme.
Whenever I See a photo like this I tend to think about how family is linked together, not only by blood, but also through marriage. As I sat and looked at the finished photo some more, I also thought about the link between mankind and how we are all linked together. It doesn't matter where we live, what color our skin is, what religion we are, we are all linked together through the commonality of the human race. I wish there was a way that we could get beyond political differences, beyond the religious differences and find a common thread that would allow the world to live in peace, without war. I know, that's anb ideal world, but sometimes you can't help but wonder what it would be like for the world to live in peace.
The composition and editing is superb.
We are all linked together in today's world; what one country does affects the rest of the world; a deed done by one can affects millions.
One day when the Prince of Peace returns to the Planet Earth there will be Perfect Peace.
Very nice. The simplest things captured in a photo provoke deep thoughts.
Ah that the world might know and live by the peace that passes all understanding.
Fabulous photo and extraordinary caption. You are so correct, we are all in fact linked. It amazes me how so many just don't see it that way. I truly believe when WE realize that, when we know in our heart of hearts that we are all linked, then that allows peace to rest in our hearts. To me, that's all I can hope for in today's world, however sad that may be.
What a strong image and a tender, heartfelt caption. I think we share the same longing, and who wouldn't? *Beautifully* photographed and written, Rick. And thank you for your birthday message...
Love the picture & your thoughts that it led to - wouldn't it be nice to go beyond the differences we see in eachother but that place is not this earth, as those of us who love our Lord & Saviour know.
Wow,this is great Rick, love your processing also. Thanks for your comment, and how wonderful for you to find those old rolls of film, must have been so exciting to look at the photos after a few years :)
Oh, wow, Rick, what a powerful image you have created! FAV! And, I am so impressed by how you are linking your photography and your thought-provoking personal reflections.
Like the subtle color choices on this one Rick. I also enjoyed reading your thoughts too. I selfishly picked the recent theme with the hope of forcing people to think about peace. If I get nothing else from this project, I know that for a short while I had a few hundred people thinking about peace. Anyways, I couldn't agree more with you and hold the same hope and wonder.
