This is one of two cockatiels in an aviary we have in the one corridor where I work. If you whistle as you walk by they whistle back at you. This one loves when you whistle the tune to the Andy Griffith show. When I walked up to the aviary and pulled out my camera, this guy made his way down his rope and came right up to the front of the cage, almost as though he knew I wanted his photo. He posed nicely for me, even turned his head sideways and looked at me over his shoulder. I was quite entertained at his cute character.
Aww! We had one that whistled Andy Griffith as well. He also called the cat, crowed like a rooster and said “night, night, Louie” when we covered his cage at night.
We have one of these guys! His name is coco and he was seven when we got him, we got him when I was four........I'm 27 now------that just makes him old!
Sorry for the little math adventure. Anyway, lovely shot!
cute picture. cockatiels are pretty amazing. my brother and his wife hand raised several. i miss seeing them and talking with them at his place and at my mom's house. but i sure don't miss the messes that they made.
Isn't he lovely! He's probably used to visitors photographing him and just shows up at the cage for a better look at people as they snap a photo of him. :)
What fun! I love birds, especially those that will interact with you like that. In one pet store I visited, I asked the guy "does this bird talk?" and the bird looked right at me and said "birds can't talk!" Whoever owned him before had a sense of humor, I guess.
Sorry for the little math adventure. Anyway, lovely shot!
And he's a smarty-pants too. :P
