That's fascinating. Today, the lady reading the book would almost certainly be stepping off the pavement with a mobile or an e-reader, still not looking where she was going.

Great collection of pictures. Thanks for finding and sharing these. @andycoleborn Love the more modern version. It is harder and harder to find someone reading a book or newspaper in these electronic days.

Fantastic !! I love the pictures from that era. I'm surprised they were able to capture the motion they did. Coincidentally enough, funny the pictures are all of women. I challenge @rich57 and @andycoleborn to capture shots of women in clothing from the Victorian era. Then is now. Could be a new challenge... No?
