"365" and "Additional" are really good! I'm a huge fan of square crop but for this pic I prefer "Additional" one. I think "supplemental" doesn't give any "personnality" to the pic.
I think supplemental is the best. It creates a very natural vignette by not cutting off the reflections of the light in the water. Plus, you get to see the parallel reflections running into the parallel cranes. It's a really great shot. The more I look at it, the more I like it.
365 is just too tight all around, Additional cuts off the reflections, which are kind of your leading lines in the shot. You really shouldn't cut them off.
I like supplemental best, then 365. I 've commented why on your pics. The reflections are very interesting in the pic, because they lead to the cranes and they kind of enhance their height
My 2 cents worth is I like the middle one (additional)
Not a fan of square crops and there seems to be too much space on the supplemental one.
the cut off reflections are implied, I feel it makes it more dramatic.
Good luck deciding, nice picture
I like dome 3 (supplemental) shot. I like its full reflections on the water surface (additional has it cut off abruptly), and it looks sharper than o2 Arena Part 1 as well.
Was there a reason for the square crop in all three? I'd have liked to have seen a rectangular crop as well. Maybe even an off-centered one in order to really play around with different crops. The supplemental crop is the best out of the three. And it is a very pretty capture. Nice focus. Beautiful tones.
Probably the third one, though I quite like the square crop too. A bit like @aspada said I'd prefer those cranes a bit more off centre. I had a play around with your third option and came up with something a bit more rectangular. Also, to my eyes it looks a bit yellowish green so I tried a white balance correction using the roof as a neutral grey.
EDIT: that was a one-click 'correction'. It wasn't meant to be subtle, I was trying to provide a point of comparison to show the colour-cast in the original.
For what it's worth, my preference would be for something like on the right here (same as the above, reduced to 35% opacity)
Wow, thanks to everyone for your comments.
My personal fav was the 365 version. I liked the symmentrical reflections and the vignette that it produced. I was amazed that you all had different favourites and had perfectly valid reasons for them. Thats why this project is so fasinating. subjectivity is all!
and thanks to @dieter for playing with the colour balance. I think my laptop display is out of kilter and I cant afford the gizmo that alligns it. If you have any more cost effective methods I would love to hear them. Also is there a photoshop white balance tutorial that you would recommend.
Thanks again everyone, my first discussion topic has proved to be very successful. Will be sure to check them out more regularly.
@richwood there's plenty of Eye One Display monitor-profiling devices going on ebay for under $100. IMHO it would be the best money you could ever spend in photography. Without a 'calibrated' monitor colour is pure guesswork
tough decision! i love this shot and they are all great. it's a tie between #1 and #3, but i do like the square version. so if i had to, i'd go with that one.
I like 365 the best, because you're focusing in on the good parts but they're all still there. the second one (additional) cuts off the lights on the water, which draws my eye into the picture the most-- to me, it's the first thing I see and therefore cutting it in half makes the picture seem less complete. Then again, I don't know what I would think if I just saw the second one.
After seeing the first one, the third one (supplemental) seems too far away.
I love the shot and supplemental is my definite preference - the other two look fine until I see the third and at that point 365 looks especially crowded into the frame - I'd go expansive on this one.
@dieter I will check the display gizmo. and have a look at todays shot; I have cooled the shot down and I think I have a better balance now. Thanks again.
@gurry one man's subtle cross process is another's sickly yellow green cast - whatever floats your boat. My 'correction' is obviously way overdone, it wasn't meant to be subtle, I was just making a point, see my additional image above for personal preference.

It's a nice photo you took! (:

the first and last ones gives you too much water. and although the reflections are nice you dont need them to make the shot.
After seeing the first one, the third one (supplemental) seems too far away.
So I like the first one the best.

Obvious usage: "Oh, I did some RAW adjustments and then jaundiced it in Photoshop."
Thank you for the inspiration :)
Can you do us a seriously jaundiced pic for the 'haz teh suck' project?
Please :)
