Please criticize my most famous photo

May 2nd, 2012
Hello all :)

For my first topic on this forum, I'd like you to criticize the photo that is my most famous at this time. I really hope this topic will increase the number of my followers :)

I recently had some really good comments about it (special thanks to @lorraineb @parisouailleurs or @cocobella ) and I would like to share with everyone this photo.

Thanks you all again for your help, comments, favs and joy you give me... it really helps me to go on with my camera !

Stephane you know I love this, the only tiny thing I would do with it would be to edit out or just crop out the sliver of light top right, thats it, and its just me being me. I think its wonderful and it should be on the popular page! : )

@lorraineb Lorraine, the sliver of light in the top right corner as you said is my signature :)
Maybe it is not well placed... I always have some long thinking to know where to place it....
But Thanks again for your feels about this photo :)

I'm not an expert, but I'd chop quite a bit of the black space from the top. Signature would blend better in the lower left. Follow others and maybe they will follow you.

@mandyj92 Thank you for your advice Amanda... I'll search some people to follow...

If that is your signature, Stephane, it's way too small to read, even viewed big! I agree about the following others first. It's really not a competition to see how many followers you can get! Your photos are great by the way!

@joannapayne Thanks Joanna... I agree with you and i'm not thinking that it is a competition to have the most number of followers... By the way I only want to share my pictures with more people, that's all :)
You right I also think my signtaure is too small but I am one of those you think that signauture kill the photo.... but I may enlarge it, thanks :)

Just to totally confuse the issue...I hate signatures on photos...as far as I'm concerned the smaller you can get them the better...and place them in a bottom corner wher no one is likely to have their eye distracted by them./

BTW...That's a cool shot

@swilde Okay Sue... thanks for this advice too... I'll think about it when placing my signature ;)

I agree with @swilde & don't like signatures on private photos & unless you are a professional photographer I think they are unnecessary. I like this photo but personally would have it a fraction lighter just to give a tad more outline. Glad you are liking this great site.

@happypat Thanks a lot... actually I've become addicted to this website, it is my photographic encyclopedia :)

Agree on both issues
a) remove signature - top right
b) remove signature altogether.
I always feel they distract from the photo unless positioned very carefully and even then, I think, No! Btw - think your lighting is amazing. I love how you can only just read the unknown - like war, we have no idea, really, unless we've been there, how dark it is. Well done.

@thebluegnu Thanks a lot, I think the force of this picture is that there is not a lot of details and we must think of what it is ithe dark side ! Be sure I'll think harder to my signature :)

I love your photos, so I'll follow you :-)

@juliehill Thanks Julie, I do the same because.... I feel the same about your pictures !

Personally I don't care if people have a signature or not. As a matter of fact I don't use one. But if you do have one, what is the point if you can't read it? It then looks, as in this case, like a streak of white in the top corner! So if you want to use one, Stephane, go for it, but go larger!
May 2nd, 2012
@joannapayne Actually my signature is not very visible in the format upload on that website but with a larger definition (as the original size) you can easily read it... fortunately...

I'm with some others, in that I don't like signatures, they almost always get in the way of the shot. If you're worried about copyright etc, the EXIF info should take care of that, surely? I also shy away from people who post threads to attract followers, but in your case I make an exception, some of those photos are great!!! I'm now following...

@peadar Thank you for your exception and your comment about my photos. I have to admit that I have the same feeling about those who ask for followers, but for my defense your honnor I asked for comments about one photo (and hope, if you like it, that you will follow me) :) Thanks again !

This is breathtaking!

@kchuk Really ? Thank you so much for this amazing word :)

I love the powerful minimalism of this photo. I found it a bit dark at first but now I see the point of the darkness and I agree that it's very effective. I would eliminate the signature or transfer it to the bottom left corner, if you want to keep it.

@meisen325 Thank you for your point of view Monica :)
