I do a lot of experimenting with layering of images. I was wondering if this image is creepy or not? I did not try to make it creepy, but perhaps it came out that way? I have no idea, and I would greatly appreciate anyone's thoughts on what this image says to you.
@slang I guess a strong reaction is better than a weak one. Sorry to creep you out. It was totally an accident. I had no idea what the three images would look like once composited.
@harley84 Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes when working in a vacuum, you lose sight of your own work. This type of imagery is fairly common for me as I am always interested in creating an emotional and dynamic photo.
It's Ok, I don't believe in stuff like ghosts but it just gives you a really possessed and creepy vibe right off the first glance. You'd win a creepy contest, hands down.
To me, my first gut reaction is that she's holding lipstick and this foreshadows all the crap that she will find herself in later, as she goes through puberty. The pressure to be skinny, attractive and perfect will be an assault to her entire being. This is what it says to me. So, yeah, it's sad and scary. We reflect what our past has created. In my case, this happened to me. I still have all the scars.
@craziemutant yes, the gaze is freaky. And I hadn't thought of the woman at the counter remaining still.......thanks for noticing. @lacedxxoo Thanks for your feedback.
For an art photo it is very nice but the child seems a bit washed out against the rich colors, the eyes seemed a bit unearthly with the black underneath them. I think if the child was in a brighter color such as stereotypical pink it would go with the lipstick and perfection some put on people. Hopefully she will be full of self confidence to stand up to the assaults you mentiones.
thanks to everyone who responded. I appreciate your feedback!!! It's way past bedtime so I must retire, plus my carpal tunnel is hurting so bad, I have to get off the computer. With feedback, I feel the void filled up temporarily and thank you all for taking time to look at my photo.
Well my 7 year old son said from a distance when he walked into the room "Ooooo what's a monkey doing in a hotel?". Then he looked closer and said "That's cool." so it gets no creepy from him. lol. As for me I don't know if I find it creepy, I do find it intriguing and it definetely has a ghost like quality to the little girl.
I mean why is it creepy?
