The before's better, can see where you're going in the edit though...
I pulled the image there just to see what'd work...
Adding a little overall contrast with curves, three points, tiny raise at the top end and small drops at the low end keeps much more of the colour than the edit you have there.
You could drop some overall saturation but keep the eyes or even boost them a little, so they don't lose their strikingness...
I totally see what you're going for in the 2nd one, and something about it is just a little off- you lost a lot of color in the face. But, if that changes, and I'm sorry I don't know exactly what needs to change, then I think it would be amazing. Very fashion magazine affect :)
After!!! My impression is that a high fashion shot is the look you are going for and I think you are getting really close on the after. The before is not crisp and I think her face is a bit washed out and her hair blends with the background a bit. The after there is more drama and contrast and she stands out. I just think the glow of the skin is a bit off.
If you could give the skin back it's warmth I'd say after. ATM her left arm looks weird as though she's had half the thickness amputated but there's more drama in the second.....but would need skin warmth back.
fab shot :)
Before feels overexposed and pleh. After is about exactly.. over 9000x better.
High contrast is best art imo. I love High contrast, but even w/ that love the after is still a better exposed shot imo.
I like parts of both and dislike parts of both. I think her arms look really weird in both with one arm looking twice as big as the other (or half as big depending in which arm you are looking at). I love the lighting on the face and arms of the second but that same lighting is too dark on the rest of the photo. I think I'd like a photo somewhere in between the two.
Thank you to everyone who commented on my picture and thank you for all your thoughts on what you think is right or not quite right with my edited photograph please keep them coming =)
depends on the feeling you want the picture to have. if you want it to have a warm happyish feel then before. but the after one has a harder, colder, harsher feel to it.
I like the after one :)
I know I'm going against the main stream here but I prefer "after" - the over all tone seems more harmonious and it looks like straight out of a fashion magazine. Beautiful!

the after photo seems weird.. a little tweak on the photo will make the chin overexposed... so i'd go for the before photo =)

It's more editorial and professional.
