Before! More light, can see more of her face, warmer tones. :)
May 16th, 2011
Before. I agree with Teresa.
May 16th, 2011
i like before aswell theres more detail and i agree with @pocketmouse about the skin tone being warmer
May 16th, 2011
before definitely works!

The before's better, can see where you're going in the edit though...

I pulled the image there just to see what'd work...

Adding a little overall contrast with curves, three points, tiny raise at the top end and small drops at the low end keeps much more of the colour than the edit you have there.

You could drop some overall saturation but keep the eyes or even boost them a little, so they don't lose their strikingness...

Before

before, the definition is stronger, the colours are warmer and the textures are more pronounced
May 16th, 2011
before.
May 16th, 2011
You've lost lots of tones and details in the after. The before has more definition, tone, and richer color.

Before!

I totally see what you're going for in the 2nd one, and something about it is just a little off- you lost a lot of color in the face. But, if that changes, and I'm sorry I don't know exactly what needs to change, then I think it would be amazing. Very fashion magazine affect :)

Before

i think before too!
May 16th, 2011
after for me.......
May 16th, 2011
I'm gonna say after. I like both, but there's something more to the after shot that grabs my attention. Nice portrait by the way!
May 16th, 2011
After!!! My impression is that a high fashion shot is the look you are going for and I think you are getting really close on the after. The before is not crisp and I think her face is a bit washed out and her hair blends with the background a bit. The after there is more drama and contrast and she stands out. I just think the glow of the skin is a bit off.
May 16th, 2011
I actually really prefer the after... :p

After!

Before
May 16th, 2011
If you could give the skin back it's warmth I'd say after. ATM her left arm looks weird as though she's had half the thickness amputated but there's more drama in the second.....but would need skin warmth back.
fab shot :)
May 16th, 2011
oh i'd like 1/2 way between the 2!! If you could lighten up the shadows of the after i think you'd be on a winner ;) (lol of course imo only!) :)
May 16th, 2011
It's true that you can see her face better before, which is good. But overall I think the second picture has a better vibe to it...
May 16th, 2011
before , I like the colors. even though the colors take away from the principal overall look.
May 16th, 2011
I prefer after, but I’m in agreement that it might be just a little too dark.
May 16th, 2011
before
May 16th, 2011
After- maybe a different color tone to the skin but overall- after.
May 16th, 2011
I quite like the after, but for me, the best would be somewhere in between.
May 16th, 2011
The before picture shows more details and I like the lighting.
May 16th, 2011
BEFORE! =)

the after photo seems weird.. a little tweak on the photo will make the chin overexposed... so i'd go for the before photo =)
May 16th, 2011
Before feels overexposed and pleh. After is about exactly.. over 9000x better.
High contrast is best art imo. I love High contrast, but even w/ that love the after is still a better exposed shot imo.
May 16th, 2011
I like parts of both and dislike parts of both. I think her arms look really weird in both with one arm looking twice as big as the other (or half as big depending in which arm you are looking at). I love the lighting on the face and arms of the second but that same lighting is too dark on the rest of the photo. I think I'd like a photo somewhere in between the two.

Thank you to everyone who commented on my picture and thank you for all your thoughts on what you think is right or not quite right with my edited photograph please keep them coming =)
May 17th, 2011
before photo for me.
May 17th, 2011
depends on the feeling you want the picture to have. if you want it to have a warm happyish feel then before. but the after one has a harder, colder, harsher feel to it.
I like the after one :)
May 18th, 2011
I know I'm going against the main stream here but I prefer "after" - the over all tone seems more harmonious and it looks like straight out of a fashion magazine. Beautiful!
May 18th, 2011
i like the before on her and the after background. i would maybe select the background on the before and darken it...might make her pop even more
May 18th, 2011
After, way more dramatic!
May 18th, 2011
Before. More light and warmer
May 18th, 2011
I think that this thread just points out that everyone has their own view of beauty... :-) Find what you like and go with it!!!
May 18th, 2011
AFTER!
It's more editorial and professional.
May 18th, 2011
before!!!!!!!!!! you look ALIVE in the 1st one! ;)
May 18th, 2011
@brisingr880 lol its not me in tha pic XD as i am a guy
May 18th, 2011
before. I like the luminous quality in her face.

If I didnt know which was which, I'd pick After. Though I usually go for whatever was taken as is.
May 22nd, 2011
before!
May 22nd, 2011
Before.... But only because of how this image is lit. If it was lit more from the left without the shiny part of her face then I'd say after
