Revisiting Old Subjects

January 17th, 2012
To the peeps on Year Two or more - anyone had the opportunity to revisit a shoot from early on in your project that you just weren't happy with, or just wanted to see how your skill level had improved along the journey? It's one of the first shots I did into the start of my Year Two - a reshoot of a shot I did 3 days into my project. I'd love to see your "re-do's" if you got em!
Here's the original, from Day 3 of my project:
January 17th, 2012
And here's the re-do, shot almost exactly a year later to the day:)
January 17th, 2012
I should revisit all my January photos from last year, but have not gotten around. My gerber daisies kept insisting on constantly modeling so far.
January 17th, 2012
@brumbe let's see some old ones and new ones of those!
January 17th, 2012
@pwallis , oh this is great.......it makes me want to do some comparisons! unfortunately i started in March, but come March 2012, I am going to do this!
January 17th, 2012
Great thread Paula!
Then...

and now
January 17th, 2012
@paulaag well it's not too early to do a reshoot - I was just using a one year time frame since I know a lot of the people I interact with are now on year two:)
January 17th, 2012
@shutterbugger I didn't realize that was a reshoot! Or maybe I did, but didnt' check out the first one. But anyways - look at your mad processing skillz!

Day 1

Almost a year later

January 17th, 2012
@pwallis I look forward to doing this in a year. Great idea...great topic to start. It will be interesting to see what others have revisited too.
January 17th, 2012
@lolanae wow, she has gotten so big!
January 17th, 2012
Man she's grown up so much this year! *sniff*
January 17th, 2012
@lolanae oooh - I'm going to post a then and now of Pickle too!!
January 17th, 2012
Pickle's 1st cameo in my project - January of last year:)
January 17th, 2012
Her latest appearance - with processing magic by liz @4stories
January 17th, 2012
Grr, I still haven't done this, will try to think of something tomorrow!
January 17th, 2012
@brumbe - I hadn't realized how much her face had thinned out and grown up until sticking those two pics side by side.
January 17th, 2012
@pwallis right? I think I might rock!
January 17th, 2012
@pwallis here you go.
Year 1 – Day 77 – Gerber Daisy with my macro lens, viewed 101 times (300 days later of course), 16 comments, and 1 fav)

Year 2 – Day 376 – Gerber Daisy with my macro lens, viewed four times with one comment as of posting.

January 17th, 2012
@brumbe I wish your first one sucked like mine does. But it doesn't. They're both fabulous!
January 17th, 2012
@lolanae @pwallis It is amazing to see children one year apart that I have watched grow all year. The differences are just so impressive.
January 17th, 2012
I thought about doing January of 2012 as re-shoots of January 2011, but then I figured they'd probably look the same anyways. lol.
January 17th, 2012
@pwallis oh I have one of those too from my first day. And for my other one, I REFUSE to take a photo of cheese covered tater tots again. Ugh, it may be my worst ever photo.
January 17th, 2012
@brumbe off to look at that masterpiece now:)
January 17th, 2012
Here is the other one from this year.
Year One – Mummery – Iphone4 no edits – 64 views, 0 comments

Year Two – The Mummer Strut – DSLR and edited heavily - 91 Views, 13 Comments

January 17th, 2012
I sorry! I thought this one was about reshooting the same subject, not improving. I has a fail. :(
January 17th, 2012
@beautifulthing Haha! I thought you were just starting up your own thread so you could discuss FBI related matters.
January 17th, 2012
@pwallis Truth be told, I've been starting random ish all day for reasons that we have discussed on the FB and what-not and so forth. :) I just got carried away!! :D
January 17th, 2012
First attempt, from February 2010 (my first year):

Second attempt, from July 2011 (my second year):

Yes, the second one is definitely better. (Although, with a whole eighteen months' experience of aimlessly waving my camera around in between the two shots, I'd be a little disappointed if it weren't!)

Maybe I should revisit the Fye Bridge location again, now I'm in my third year??
January 17th, 2012
@manek43509 I'd love to see a year 3 redo! Can it get any better though? Year 2 looks pretty amazing!
January 17th, 2012
My first ever attempt at taking water shots~

And my first attempt in my second year. ~ LOL~
January 17th, 2012
@sanera WOW. MASSIVE improvement! lol - that's awesome:)
January 17th, 2012
@pwallis~ Thanks so much Paula! I love taking water shots! So fun. My second year shot is by far one of my bests, and one of my favs. ~
January 17th, 2012
I'm only 16 days into this project, but want to say that I hope a year from now I hope someone posts this same challenge and I can revisit one of my photos. AND, I hope I see the impressive improvements that I see in your photos!
January 17th, 2012
Oooh...I forgot I actually had some contributions here!

Beginning of January, 2012:

Bam. :)
January 17th, 2012
@beautifulthing you are all sorts of awesome.
January 17th, 2012
@pwallis OMG I'm all blushy now and stuff. :D
January 17th, 2012
I am in my third year and I plan on revisiting many of my older subjects this year. Last year I took a photo at the same location once a month to see both my progress and the changes at that location. When I revisit a location, I change my manual photo settings to see if I can get something better that I like.
January 17th, 2012

day one

almost a year later:)
January 17th, 2012
@pwallis - awesome thread...now i am crying because my miss b is growing up!
January 17th, 2012
@pwallis Fun discussion!

@sweetmommyof3 The key to improving here is by participating, asking questions, reading technical conversations and giving and getting feedback. And since you mentioned it, you can post this conversation next year.
January 17th, 2012
what a fantastic thread. its so fun to see everybody's transformations and inspiring to know that I still have a chance. LOL. Im only half way through year one but have already noticed a fair amount of improvement in my own project so Im hoping I follow in all of your footsteps. :) Keep the pictures coming!!
January 17th, 2012
Great idea! I'm going to have to revisit last year and try this out!
January 17th, 2012
I love this topic, Paula! At first I thought, I need to make this a goal this week, and then I realized I actually did this tonight, without even knowing about this thread. Here is my third daughter (and my granddaughter) on her birthday last January:

And here is my second daughter at her birthday celebration tonight:

Hopefully I'm getting better at the low light birthday shots...
January 21st, 2012
Day 19 of year 1...

Day 21 of year 2...

I had not planned to re-visit this plant but it caught my attention today just like it did 367 days ago
