Back in October I asked for advice in compiling a portfolio as I was applying for a place on a photography degree.
Whilst I was enthusiastic I'll admit I didn't hold out much hope. I'm a decade older than most appliciants, I have no art/media/photography related qualifications (infact mine are all sciency ones) and the grades I got a decade ago aren't what they want for the course.
Also the fact that last year aprox 500 people applied for places and only 35 were taken onto the course narrowed my chances even more.
Regardless I thought I would give it a try, nothing ventured and all that.
Well tonight I got an email with an application to interview!
I know that's not the same as getting a place on the course but it's a lot further than I expected to get. The inteview isn't until April and I somehow have to contain my excitment until then.
So, what do you have to do with this and why do I love you for it? Until last year I enjoyed photography but never thought I could do anything with it other than create albums filled with memories.
This site and more importantly you wonderful people on it have encouraged me to use my camera for differnt things, to explore what it can do and to push myself further.
I have so much more to learn, I hope I have the opportunity to, and I want to thank you all for teaching me this much, I look forward to tomorrows lesson!
