I have noticed that its not only peoples photos that are creative and interesting, but also the titles they put to them! some are very funny, some ironic, thought provoking etc. Some add an extra dimension to the photo, allowing the viewer to see things from a whole new perspective! I have enjoyed reading them and also thinking up titles for my own pictures that may add interest.
i would like to invite you to paste any likes bellow which have examples of interesting titles, that way we can all appreciate them together!
Thanks Sarah Gillott
Thanks for your reply Vikdaddy. Your project is great! you have some serious photography skills and witty titles too! i liked so many! this one is cool http://365project.org/vikdaddy/365/2010-06-08
Thanks Sarah - some titles are obvious, others less so. Some titles take longer to come up with than the photo itself! Good choice of topic by the way.
Thanks vikdaddy, laney and marti for your replies! I've never started a thread for discussion before so I'm glad to see someone is interested! ;)
I will try to find more fun titles to add!
I had a couple of months where I used an interesting fact relating to the content of the photo as the title, but I found it just got too time consuming in the end.
After reading this thread, I realized that I have the most boring titles ever! Most are a literal description of the image... how dull! I'll have to get more creative with these!
Melissa, songs make great titles and it's how you see the connection to your photo that's the creative part, so you can absolutely take credit! Nice project by the way!
You have probably seen this image but it's a great example of a title that draws you into the story to find out more!
Made me smile!
Cute shot too! If your not already following Peter- do it now, he's got serious photography and sensitive processing skills! V inspirational! http://365project.org/petervanallen/365/2010-07-10
I love everyone's titles!!
I dont usually make my funny or anything (id like too!) but i usually just make them sweet.. compliment the photo, you know? http://365project.org/vwbus/365/2010-07-05
What a fun discussion topic, Sarah! For me, Brad is the king of cool titles! His projects is full of numerous examples! I looked back at my album and I found these:
I don't always come up with something witty like this, http://365project.org/autumnseden/365/2010-07-13, but I am happy when I do come up with something funny. Brad has such a way with words! I always look forward to his posts. Hehe
Autumn- you have some amazing shots and great titles in your project to! I found it hard to choose which one I liked best! I faved a few!
I chose to share this one it's a neat pic and perfect title! http://365project.org/autumnseden/365/2010-06-13
I agree, there are some brilliantly thought out titles. I'm not quick enough and often give up and just go for a basic title.
I was watching a lifestyle program last night and there was a documentary on a restaurant which has unusual titles for the dishes they serve. They said that the name of the dish often influences each individual's taste of the dish. Interesting concept. I wonder if this is true for photograph titles- does the title influence our perception/ enjoyment of the photograph?
I like googling interesting quotes that pertain to the picture I've taken that day, or sometimes a photo screams a particular title. For example, for yesterday's pic I was looking for something interesting to do with eyes, and found the term 'visual acuity', which I thought had both a scientific and poetic tone to it. http://365project.org/vikdaddy/365/2010-07-15
having names and tidbits on one's photos also helps the viewers have an inside as to what one is seeing or feeling when taking the particular photo... at least this is my take on things when snapping a photo... it is how the subjects speak to me....

And one title that a follower came up with after I had posted: http://365project.org/ZG/365/2010-06-30
I don't know if I can take credit for these being creative since they're lines from songs, but I thought they fit the images well: http://365project.org/melissapike/365/2010-06-10 http://365project.org/melissapike/365/2010-06-09
