No idea it seems to be random I had one with 72 views and 38 comments 1 fav that made PP yet one that had 150 views 60 comments and 9 favs didn't. Ditto most highly rated don't correlate to views comments fav's
@jase_h did that work. I thought it would have been more effective to PayPal your followers and friends so you get the most favs from Wednesday to Wednesday. @steampowered

The answer in the FAQ section: No, it doesn't work the way you think it works - for a good reason, it doesn't matter that you have a bazillion favs and a jizillion followers, just get on with your project and try not to worry about it. Please don't email me about it, I wont tell you, search the discussion boards, there are loads of conspiracy theories about it.
If you are referring to the weekly Top 20, Ross told me it is based purely on which ever photos 365 wide rec'd the most favs during the time frame considered "the week", which I believe is Wed to Wed. This is unlike the Pop Page which is based upon a complicated mixture of factors in which you are gauged against yourself.
At the end of the day does it really matter if you have followers and are following and comment and receive comments then that's the importance of the site for me and the sharing of good practice :-)
@paul2782 - All the commotion over pop page and top 20 I dislike, and though had my share, would rather this site did away with as its distracting. And follower pursuits too - Its about sharing pics and learning from each other and having some good chats with peeps all over the world.

Magic. Smoke and mirrors. But I agree--it gets distracting. Nothing like pulling you back to high school and the popularity contest. My advice to everyone--don't get caught up in the PP (or Top 20) (or followers) quest.
I like the Pay Pal answer. I've never understood it. Some of my own fav's never make it and some that I just don't understand will hit quick. I just remain grateful for any and all that hit.
@cmc1200 the numbers are counted from Wed to Wed. This can mean numbers are split. I wrote to Ross about it once. @michaelelliott I tend to agree. The Popular Page and Top Twenty are seen to be an imprimatur, and in my view, needed to be treated with caution. Far too many seem to be tormented or driven by it. I think it is important to shoot what you like, edit how you want and post the photos that you value. Sometimes others demonstrate they like through follows and fav's, which we all enjoy but it is important to keep in perspective. Flickr similarly has favourites and an Explore page. When I first started here I ignored PP and TT for a long time, and sadly feel that far too many threads are created or driven by trying to organise around this. So much for the political economy for 365. That is why I am content to kid or sometimes hijack around these issues. Laughter sometimes still is medicine. And so is coffee and cake!
@cmc1200 Here here...I was kinda down about it this week and was thinking...How very middle school to be feeling this way! Great words, lady! I've been seemingly Top 20 slighted, too. :/
The answer to this question is as much of a mystery as the monoliths on Easter Island. I've had a small handful of shots make the PP and it is exciting to see your picture there. But I've had far more that didn't get there. And I've never made the TT and probably never will. But the things I've learned from being on this site are so much more important. So don't worry about it- enjoy your project and the people you meet here. The rest is icing on the cake.
I wish it were renamed 'gallery' or 'monkey's choice' or something.... it would take the angst out of it. Don't be daunted by it, be inspired by what you see there and enjoy your own project.
The top 20 is different (in my view) you can't argue with numbers though of course those with a gazillion followers are always more likely to be noticed and make it than those who pottle along with a handful. The more you're involved, the more you will get out of it, that's for sure. I'm always happy to fave a good shot for offers of chocolate if anyone is really fussed by the way...

@cmc1200 If the date you upload the photo to in your album differs too much from the date in the EXIF data that says when you took the photo, then it is excluded from the Top 20 list. One of my photos with 173 faves never made the Top 20 because of this, but I can hardly complain as it has 173 faves!
Is there a way to see how many Faves a photo has? Sorry - a lot of newbe questions. Thanks for your help everyone. I'm starting to be able to navigate a with a bit more ease now.
You know the thing is, no matter what else it may be I like looking at the popular pages to see some of the better pictures out here. It's how I discover people I might otherwise not notice. I'd like to think that in some impartial way, it really does represent the best pictures of the week. Clearly a lot of really great things are going to get missed no matter what system you use but at least make the attempt to put the best ones on there.
