BOLD ADVERTISEMENTS

February 8th, 2013
I don't think there has a been a thread like this posted yet.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OFFENSE TO THIS THREAD, to offend is not my intention, but merely to document how bold American advertisers are becoming.
Let's see your BOLD AND IN YOUR FACE signage and advertisments.
The first one I just found in my Women's Health Magazine and was really surprised how forward American advertising agencies are becoming. The second one I found in Mexico a few weeks ago while on vacation and it did not shock me at all to see it advertised.
A CLEAN BEAVER...ALWAYS FINDS MORE WOOD

ONLY IN MEXICO

i hope there are some ads that are "Bold and in your face" without being sexual. i'd be interested in that.

No pics, but remember being in Thailand about 10 years ago watching TV and an add for skin lighting cream was on (Nivea if I remember) which showed a woman not getting a job, then she started using a lighting cream and after becoming 'whiter' went for another interview and got a job.!!!

Saw similar themed adverts in India last year..!!

@eniaral Laraine, please do not take offense as I mentioned, I did not mean to offend anyone with this post. My intention was to merely point out how bold the American Advertisers are becoming.

@andycoleborn Wow, that seems really racist, I can;t believe Nivea (?) would do an advert like that and that they got away with it???
February 9th, 2013
@moirab Where did you find this signage?
February 9th, 2013
@shirljess Pondicherry, South India
February 9th, 2013
@moirab One might ask oneself.. how clean a place like that might be?
February 9th, 2013
@catwhiskers @froggie0628 @cmc1200 I know, right.. I was shocked as well.. had to read it twice before it really set in.

I don't get the first one, can someone please explain it to me? ;-)
February 9th, 2013
@grizzlysghost We all know you are pretty sheltered up there in Montana, buuuut, I have already been accoused in a round about way of being unrefined, so I best not go there as I really do not want to offend anyone ;)

Not an advert... more of a warning (Jain Temple in Rajesthan - there rules so who's to speak ill of them....)

@shirljess skin tone is very, very important to Asians... trust me!

@andycoleborn This is very emotive... It is amazing to me to get a glimpse into the different cultures in our world and what they deem as acceptable. Thx for sharing this with us, it helps bring to light how blessed we are to live in the United States and have our freedoms .
February 9th, 2013
@shirljess I think the different cultures may disagree with you as to who are the blessed :-)
February 9th, 2013
Wow!
February 9th, 2013
@andycoleborn Good point.
February 9th, 2013
love the first one! funny and so cute!
February 9th, 2013
@shirljess hmmm, I would have thought the first one to be a Canadian advert, it being our national symbol and all. We love our beavers up here in Canada!
February 9th, 2013
@westcoastwallis Haha I thought the same thing Paula... those crazy Canadians would have something like that!
February 9th, 2013
great thread :)
February 9th, 2013
@westcoastwallis
Canadian Beavers are by miles the best!
February 9th, 2013
@andycoleborn @shirljess

Nivea is latin for white, or snowy white or something, just saying. They're a German company so they can't be racist surely? (sniggers)
February 9th, 2013
@chewyteeth HA HA HA good one on both comments...
February 9th, 2013
@shirljess

oh, and don't be so bothered about offending people, a joke about a beaver would only offend real hard right, maladjusted, self righteous sociopaths whose biggest drama this week was shall I wear the brown or the grey cardigan? Every thread I saw recently starts with 'I don't want to offend anyone but...' people take shit too seriously. There's lots of offensive stuff on the net, half of the www is porn and the other half is Christian forums, the porn I don't mind, but I don't let the offensive stuff get to me, you know. People using the interwebs should have a mental filter and just steer away from stuff they don't like. imho

LOL the beaver one... there was a whole series of TV adds along those lines in australia... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkkTeAP8d5o
