adding signature to photos?

February 17th, 2013
hi guys.

I am hoping to add a signature to my photographs. Can you help me find the quickiest & easiest way to do so?

thanks

hello, do you edit them fist? most editing software have a text option for signatures or adding words.
February 17th, 2013
hmmm no software used here just camera edit. Thanks very much I may need to open my world to software :-)

Lightroom is your best bet... it can add a watermark, and a whole lot more. I wouldn't shoot without it.
February 17th, 2013
@cameronknowlton thanks am now beginning to realise it may be sensible.

Text options are available in most photo editing sites, e.g., picmonkey, ipiccy and your camera software, too. Just click on text and there are many options to choose from. If course you can create your own as well.

If you just want to add text I'm sure there are free ones online. I think picasa is free from google. If you do a google search for it you should find it easily and be able to download for free. I still use picasa for my collages asit is much easier than in photoshop.

you do your editing through your camera? I really like your photos.
February 17th, 2013
@cimes1 @metzgerrn thanks all very much. extremely helpful :-)

I scanned my own signature then added it to my brushes in PS

I really like Impression for watermarking. Super easy to use.

@chezza I use Lightroom for mine - worth looking into, Cheryl.
February 17th, 2013
I just signed the bottom right of my computer screen; every photo I pull up has my signature now... no additional software needed! ;)
February 17th, 2013
I use Lightroom too. Never thought it would be something I would use, but you can do so many great things with it, not only add a watermark...
February 17th, 2013
@chezza you can use picasa ( the free version or iPiccy) I use both for editing off camera I don't use a signature myself but both programms have this option.iPiccy can do editing online, so you don't have to download the program at all

@anoeska @khirsch @grizzlysghost @gailmmeek thanks all im now using picassa to see how it goes
February 17th, 2013
Picassa is great! It's a good start.
February 17th, 2013
I like to use a nice soft pen on the back of photo.
February 17th, 2013
You might want to check some of the threads discussing the controversies around watermarks before you make the decision.
February 17th, 2013
@peterdegraaff yep... Just make sure it's acid free and photo safe
February 17th, 2013
@tigerdreamer oh really. I shall do had no idea of controversies. thank you
February 17th, 2013
@northy absolutely. And preferably on back of frame
February 17th, 2013
@northy thank you

Going to piggy back off your question and ask how to add a water mark using Lightroom? I'm only familiar with tweaking exposure, etc on it. Had no idea you could create and add a water mark!
February 17th, 2013
@attraversi I didn't either.
February 17th, 2013
When adding a watermark, remember to always use lots of color, a font that stands out (don't be subtle), and make it BIG.
February 17th, 2013
I'm gonna have a quick look at your album before you start ruining your pictures ;-)
February 17th, 2013
@thethree Shhh, that's PRO info there; don't be giving away secrets!
February 17th, 2013
@grizzlysghost
I was about to write the same thing. Good job I checked to see if anyone else had done "sign on your screen with a pen" first...!
February 18th, 2013
@grizzlysghost your on fire today aren't you! ;)

watermarks and signatures are a great way to spoil the viewing pleasure for most (and perhaps slow down anyone that wishes to reuse your picture by 60 seconds or so - as that is about how long it takes to remove it)

In almost every case signatures and watermarks just spoil your work.
