How do you know if your photo makes the Popular Page or Trending Page?

January 3rd, 2014
Just wondering if you get a notification or how do you know? Thanks for answering!

I would like to know too, as I'm mystified how the proceedure works here ....

@smiffy37 If you look to the right of a picture where it gives the statistics for views/comments/favs etc the words 'featured on the popular page' or in the case of trending (ace members only I think) 'featured on the trending page'!
January 3rd, 2014
If you are an ACE member, it will show on your "featured" on the far right of your main page. Otherwise, you have to check or someone at times will tell you ... also, one of the members has made an app that you can type in and it will give you a history of the PP page for your pics.

You don't get a notification, but if you look at the photo it will say 'Featured: on the Popular Page', or 'Featured: on the Trending Page' (or both), on the right hand side, just below where it says 'Privacy: Public'.

You don't need to be an Ace member to get your photo onto the Trending page, but you do need to be an Ace member to see the Trending page.

Often, people will also leave a comment to say 'congratulations on PP' or similar (short for Popular Page), as well, which you will get notified about.

If you want to see which of your shots (since April 2013) made it to the PP without going through them, as well as other statistics such as how long they stayed on PP, you can use a tool I put together, here:

Also, remember that it can disappear from the page as quickly as it appears ... the monkees can be fickle

@abirkill THANK YOU so much for doing that for the community Alexis.I keep that link in my profile so I can check it when I log in.

I have been fortunate enough to have a shot on pp. I was looking for some nice shots and some follows when suddenly, there was my shot. I was so excited lol!
January 3rd, 2014
@smiffy37 I think they explained it for us! :)
January 3rd, 2014
@paulaw Thanks!
January 3rd, 2014
@dlaxton Thanks for letting me know!
January 3rd, 2014
@abirkill You are awesome!
January 3rd, 2014
@kporte I bet! I haven't been taking pictures long, but I hope to be on that page one day, and I hope to break 100 followers! I now have 98!
January 3rd, 2014
One more question - how do you list your camera used in your profile?

There may or may not be a person or persons who have an auto script running that automatically "FAVs" a photo once it hits the Pop Page... when I get a notification of their FAV, that's when I know. ;-)
January 3rd, 2014
@lbluejaye8 wow 98 followers in your first week is amazing!
With that kind of popularity pretty sure you will be seeing your pics on the popular page. :-)
@grizzlysghost - LOL - Aaron - yes that is how I know, too.

@kporte Awe, thanks!! :)

@jankoos No, Jan, this is my second year, but only the third day of the new year, so I'm pretty excited to hit 100!
January 3rd, 2014
Appreciate all the answers .... another question - are Favs in some way connected to whether it gets on the PP then?
January 4th, 2014
@smiffy37 I'm not sure . . . that's a valid and logical question. . . hmmm. . . anyone?
January 4th, 2014
@lbluejaye8 - aha! That makes sense - I was thinking 'WOW'. Well now you have 101!

@smiffy37 Hi Eileen - yes - favs and comments - but there is some kind of formula and the joke around here is that the magic monkeys are in charge. We don't know exactly what the formula is but it's designed so that people with few followers have the same opportunity to have a pic on the popular page as those with many. The TT or Top Twenty is numbers based - the twenty pics from the week with the most favs (although I think they have it set so no-one can have more than two pics on there at once).
January 4th, 2014
@smiffy37 hi there. Yes, Jan is right, I think if you get a surge in comments and faves (more than your usual average), the system picks it up and the 'magic monkeys' take it from there. Some folk have gazillions of followers and daily faves, so it gives everyone a chance.
The top twenty goes from a day for a week (not sure which) and is straight numbers... I've seen folk with more than one on there.
Both these are amazing to look at and aspire to, but don't let them get in the way of just enjoying your own project! :)

@lbluejaye8 @jankoos @filsie65 Ah - that makes a lot of sense , thank you so much . I think I haven't made enough use of 'discussions' etc for info. I need to find out so much more about Project 365, but I'll gradually get there no doubt!

@abirkill Firstly a huge thankyou for setting this up, I used it on a regular basis in the past. I am not sure if anything has changed, or if there is a fault [I have been an hit and miss visitor of late to 365] but my latest to hit PP is not showing on my link you provided.

This is the link to photo in question

@alisonp Unfortunately it looks like there have been more changes to the PP page that mean I'm no longer able to accurately determine either when a picture is or isn't on the popular page, or what position it has.

Unless I can find a way to get the data (which seems unlikely), it looks like this tool will have to be retired. :(
March 6th, 2014
@abirkill oh no, what a bummer! I and many others will surely miss this 'feature' :(

Thank you for whilst it lasted ~ It was very useful specially when I only hit PP for an hour or so and missed it here on 365 itself
March 7th, 2014
@alisonp As of now it will (should!) continue to report when a photo enters and exits PP, but it cannot determine the ranking of a photo on the PP. Let's hope that much keeps working, at least!
