Android tablet as field monitor for canon

Thought I would share this nifty idea for those of us with canons wanting a bigger screen to view

I've used this app with my android phone and canon camera to do a sequence of shots - so instead of setting up a self-timer family portrait and running to try to get in the frame before it goes off, I can set the app to take 5 shots, 2 seconds apart, starting in a couple of minutes. That gives us time to settle and interact. It's definitely the best app I've bought for my phone ever. :)

Wouldn't you know my android tablet doesn't have any way to plug in the cable.

@randystreat Hmmm...I use the cable that came to connect my camera to the computer coupled with a USB on the go adapter like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-2-Pack-Micro-USB-Adapter/dp/B00GM0OZ4O

The adapter plugs into my phone charging port - does your tablet use a different charging cable than micro USB?

@sarahsthreads Sarah. Thank you. I ordered one just now. I'll try to remember to let you know how it works.

@randystreat They're super handy (and cheap) little adapters to have on hand. You can also plug in a USB thumb drive to transfer files off (or onto) your phone/tablet. I hope it works for you and the controller app works out for you! Just as another tip, the same developer has a free remote shutter app that you can download first to make sure it works with your phone/tablet and camera combo before buying the controller app. (Not affiliated in any way, just think it's a really neat app!)
