The corpse flower has bloomed!

August 2nd, 2016
If you're in the DC area and want to see it, today, Tues Aug 2, is the official peak bloom. It will likely still be in bloom tomorrow as well, but today is peak. It opened early this morning as opposed to a late afternoon blooming as is its norm.

And for some great entertainment, catch the live stream in the link:

(Shall I succumb to the cheesy selfie when I get there this evening????)

@mittens @carolpre It was the news about the one in New York that caught dh's attention and linked to the one in DC. Indiana was mentioned by several bystanders last night. This must be the right time of year?
August 3rd, 2016
@quietpurplehaze Did you get to smell it?
August 3rd, 2016
@claycameras It definitely was! Thank you!
August 3rd, 2016
@shesnapped They had the ladder so you could stick your nose right in. Pretty strong odor.

Will not have the chance to visit, but so very interesting. The plant does look interesting, visually. Maybe the next time in a year or so, in Washington...
