Looking for a Picasa replacement

February 24th, 2019
He all, I'm looking into getting a new computer, so I'll need a new photo editor. I loved Picasa, but you can't download that any more. I want an easy program that I can download to my computer. I already have Photoshop for bigger editing jobs. And I have access to PicMonkey through 365, but prefer not to have to upload all my pics to edit them. I only do that occasionally.

Anyone use an easy photo editor for basic edits on their computer?

@homeschoolmom does a basic editor come with your camera software? I remember way back I used to use something from canon... but I’ve been using Lightroom and photoshop for so long I have no clue what else is out there... other than snapseed which I use on my iPhone...

@homeschoolmom
My Mac book photos has basic edits although I don’t use them as I now use Lightroom
My work computer is Microsoft and it has some basic edit tools
So that could also be a good standby until you find something

Photoscape Pro is worth a look, I use Snapseed on my phone and iPad.

I have been using PhotoFiltre for years as a supplement to Picasa which I love too! There are 3 versions and I use the simple one - Version 6 with no layers. Since you are used to Photoshop you might like Version 7 with layers. Both are free downloads. It is not as quick and easy as Picasa as it has more bells and whistles but it is a very good editor.

@stownsend Hi Suzie, like all programs it has a bit of a learning curve but once you get used to it is quite a good bit of kit. It also has small video tutorials built in that are helpful.

Topaz Labs has a free version of Topaz Studio. I use this all the time though I have purchased a lot of the extras. But I probably use the free parts the most.

My go to quick editor is Snapseed, but I don’t think it’s available on PCs. It is free and NO ads. For repair and removing power lines and things I like Touch/Retouch over any of the others.

i use ribbet more than my ps CC or pse, and you can now download ribbet on to your computer or mac. ribbet.com i have no idea though if you have to pay for it. ribbet is easy to use.

I use acdsee for my edits. It can go on sale for around $70 if you wait, has great organization tools, and processing tools.

Sometimes I think I should go to Photoshop to use tutorials though.

Topaz Studio is my best option! I do 90% of my editing on it. Very easy with some great presets which I use quite often. I bought the whole package on a recent sale, although I use very little of it.

I use phoyoscape x and am learning GIMP. Topaz is good, but my laptop rejected it after 8 weeks!

@homeschoolmom

I use FastStone which does all the editing I want. It is free to download. You will just be asked for a one-off donation. I gave a fiver.

Ribbet now has a version you can download to your computer- it's a lot like Picmonkey.

I also use Smart Photo Editor.
