Printing a photo book of 365 project

February 8th, 2011
Hi all

I'm sure I've seen a discussion on this before but i can't find it. I have tried to find a way to have my 365 photos printed into a single photo book, but can't find out how to do this. I thought someone recommended Blurb, but it won't go more than 160 pages and I can't seem to do more than one photo per page.

Can anyone give me help on how to create a book for my project?

Cheers
Margaret

There is Inkubook, I think im going to make mine on Shutterfly. Ive made personal books on Inkubook, Shutterfly, and Snapfish.

Opps I forgot to add that im going to place multi-photos on a page in mine. The inkubook only goes up to 120 pages. Shutterfly is Up to 101 pages with 1-16 pictures per page. Snapfish is Available with 20-150 pages.

If you can find a local bindery, you can print the images out yourself, then have them bound into a book. Be sure to talk to the bindery first, though, as they usually do have specifications about allowable page size, image dimensions (to avoid cropping when binding), etc.

I've just started to create a book using Picaboo. I didn't even think about a page limit, so I just looked it up at their site. They have several book styles can be up to 90 pages long or can contain up to 2.0 GB in original images, whichever is reached first. And they have 2 book styles can include up to 160 pages or can contain up to 2.0 GB in original images, whichever is reached first.

I might be in trouble....I am up to Day 108, and I have used 40 pages. I have more than one image on most pages, but for the ones I really love, I'm giving them a full page. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I feel like I have made a lot of improvement over time on 365, so many of my later photos will be "one-pagers"...I may just have to have two volumes.

I haven't even considered what the price will be on my book. The most important thing to me is that Picaboo has so much flexibility with the layout of the page. I often crop my photos to abnormal sizes, and with Picaboo, that is totally fine. I found with other sites that the templates offered were pretty limiting.

Hope that helps!

Someone on this site (can't remember who) made a book with Blurb and put it up for all of us to see and he had 1-4 photos per page. You can make the photos as small as you want in order to fit more on the page.

@shortperson2002 Hello! SO I was curious-out of Shutterfly, Inkubook, and Snapfish-which company seems to have the best quality photo books?! Does anyone know?! =)

@serenalorraine Personal favorite is Shutterfly. If you watch them sometimes they put them on sale. Ive purchased all of their sizes, but I get an 8x8 of each of my boys every year. I wont buy from any other company any more.

@serenalorraine I forgot to add... That most photo book companies have a particular (SET) size of photo you can put in the lay out. So the chances of your photo being cropped is high.

@shortperson2002 THANK YOU SO MUCH for this feedback! I just received about 10 photo books of various sizes from Shutterfly this week....I was very pleased with their 8x8 photo books as well and took advantage of their photo book sale and saved tons! I was just curious if this was the best place to order from or if there was a better option ... Since you ve tried them all out I trust your judgement...I know that a few of the other photo book printing companies I tried before going to Shutterfly were difficult! I also liked how easy it was to design the books in Shutterfly....again thank you for your feedback

Blurb will let you do as many photos per page as your imagination allows. When you are in Booksmart look at the upper left of the screen. It gives you page layouts...choose the page layout or design your own by editing an existing page layout. Make sure you have downloaded the most recent Booksmart from the Blurb site. Have fun.

+1 for Blurb, took me a minute to get my head round customising the page layouts, but the quality of the book I ended up with was amazing.

@ellen Ellen, so you are working on your book as you go? That's a fabulous idea as I can only imagine the time involved once 365 is reached. Never heard of Picaboo. I have used MyPublisher in the past and have been frustrated by the size constraints as I tend to do a lot of manual crops. Thanks for the info.

@barbsmith -- I just started it a couple of weeks ago, hoping to make it a little less of a big project at the end. I should have started when I started the project (since I already knew I'd want a book). Try Picaboo -- once you get the hang of it, you can literally design each page as you want it with text and all. :)

@ellen Thanks so much Ellen. I'll check that out this week.

Thanks everyone. I've gone with Blurb which enabled me to vary the number/size of photos on each page to some extent. It looks good. Only thing is that it's quite expensive. Can't wait to see it when it arrives to see if the finished product looks as good in real life as on the screen.
