I saw the title of this topic & was trying to think how I'd describe my first camera... then saw your pic above, and that's it! Mine may have been Boots branded, I'm not sure now, but that's definitely the one. Good old 110 film cartridges. I was probably 6 or 7 at the time.
I've still got lots of prints from it in a box hidden away somewhere - and the quality is just shocking!

@sburbidge I've gor prints somewhere off mine too somewhere. It really is amazing how times change. This camera was great for chopping people's heads off, lol. I was about 7 or 8 when I got mine and here's my kids wanting a digital camera at 5 and 7 lol.
I bought my first camera about 10 years ago,it was some chinese piece of crap,that I loved,and it had a little engine that turned the film after each shot,and it could even rewind the film automatically,so I didn`t need to use my fingers! ...the camera`s life expectancy was a year,a year and a half,max..haha.

@spaceman that's quite similar to my first 35 mm except I had to wind it myself and rewind it myself, but I remember having a flash button on the front of it. Can't remember when I got it but I was a teenager. Loved it.

I used my Dad's 35mm forever and I remember the first one i ever purchased on my own when I was older was one of those Kodak "disk" cameras. . . .the "film" was a little disk. . I thought it was the coolest thing EVER!
Then I had a disc camera... can't remember who manufactured it. After that it was my Pentax K1000 (35mm). I had a few point and shoots after that, up til now with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi
I still have a roll of 110 film that hasn't been processed. I can just imagine what it would cost to process it!
I remember the last 110 film I got processed, I sent it by post to Kodak and they totally messed it up. It had the final photos I would have had of my granda so well gutted plus they were taken in the Glasgow Transport Museum which at the time was in the Kelvin Hall and we were aloud to go on the vehicles then. Didn't send film off like that again.
@csievert wow, the Pentax K1000 is what we used in college when I did the taster course 2 years ago. I wonder if they still have them as I'm doing the taster course again in March. It was that camera that spurred me into buying an SLR and I got the Pentax Me Super off ebay. I'm only on my second spool with it though, lol. I really need to pick it up more.
Speaking of the old 110 - does anyone know of a reliable processing service? I would LOVE to see what is on this roll of 110 I have sitting here. (found in some boxes of belongings from my late teens/early 20's)
Oh wow! My first camera was a Kodak 104 Instamatic with a rotating flash cube. You had to keep a good supply of the flash cubes on hand though, because you only got four shots per cube. I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Ok, this post took me way further down memory lane than I care to admit.
@dejongdd - my first camera was the predecessor to that camera, a Kodak Instamatic 100. The flash popped up and you had to put these little blue bulbs in. They were tricky devils to get into place, which is probably why Kodak then went on to invent the flash cube.
I know I've still got my camera somewhere. I'll dig it out and it can be one of my 365 pix.

I have used so many cameras, I think I've lost count. My first was actually the one my dad used all the time, although I tended to use it a lot. They got me my own when I was in 3rd grade, but I don't recall what kind it was. Theirs was a Kodak Instamatic.
My dad went away to Oklahoma for a few months? or something like that and came home with this camera for me, think I was around 6 years old and I blew through film like no tomorrow....In fact a few years ago we found some (ruined) undeveloped rolls....
My parents bought me a Kodak Instamatic 126 when I was probably 10 years old or so. I've found several internet pics but not sure which one it was. It had the square flashbulbs that stuck on the top, four flashes per. I have a Fuji SLR that was a graduation gift from high school - still have it but haven't used it in 20+ years. My mom's got some real old cameras - I'll have to do a photo shoot of them at some point. Neat question - thanks for posting!
haha probably a Polaroid! my parents gave me one when i was like 11. i was obsessed with it. i used to pretend that by that picture coming out, i was actually developing it in my little darkroom. yeah i was a weird kid :)
My first was a Brownie box camera in 1952. It used roll film and we could buy developing sets to develop and print our own photos. We could buy and attach a flash for indoor shots. I didn't use colour film until the 1970s.
I was just thinking about this the other week - my first camera was actually a "homemade" one - a pinhole camera. Never took a successful picture with it (couldn't open and close the flap fast enough to not overexpose the film), but it was lots of fun to make and carry around!
My first real 35mm camera other than a instamatic one was a Praktica TL SLR and it took beautiful photo's. Sadly it stopped winding on film one day and I found that the black plastic spool that held the film had split in half, the money to fix it was worth more than the camera it's self. I replaced it with a Minolta 7000I SLR in 1992 and it still works today. I'm glad to be part of the digital age though and to see my photo straight away and not having to wait even an hour for them.

Years later, later I switched to Nikon and picked up an F100.
but was given this when I was in high school. :)
