What a year this has been. I haven't been around because I needed to take a break from photography and focus on other things that have been happening in this crazy world such as the horrific summer we had in Australia and obviously now COVID-19.
We have had to close our shop and my hours for my job have been reduced from full time to three days per week. We aren't the only ones suffering during this time and I am not complaining. We will get through this time and hopefully come out the other end happier and a closer knit family.
I have been thinking if I should pop back in to host the May Half and Half challenge. I know that so many of you have enjoyed participating in this challenge over the past few years and I have enjoyed hosting it. The reason it has taken me so long to post the challenge is because I honestly don't know how we are all going to manage a month of half and half images. I have faith that we will be able to come up with some very creative images and have fun along the way.
Sometimes when we view a scene we can see two different aspects to the one image. For example you may see a building that is painted red on one side and blue on the other side. When you capture this image, the red and blue would each make up half of the photo. The subject of your photo could be anything. In the past have chosen to focus on shadows, windows and walls, hard and soft surfaces, solid images in one half of the photo and something completely different in the other.
Once you start looking I promise you won't be able to stop seeing half and half images. For best results the image works better as a square photo.
If you are looking for a challenge and need something to focus on throughout the month of May then please join the May Half and Half challenge. Tag your photos Mayhalf20.
You can participate for a day, a week, the whole month or as and when you feel like it. I can't wait to see how creative everyone is this month.
Thank you. I was new to this last year and didn’t have a clue how I could create a month of half and half images, but the brain just seemed to start recognizing them everywhere and I really enjoyed it. Thanks, stay healthy.
Will be challenging . I’m in!
