Recently I have been in a place where landscape photography photo ops are extremely abundant, and I have loved every minute of capturing them. As a matter of fact, I've captured some of the most glorious landscapes that it has been difficult to choose just one to post. I can't seem to get enough of them. What I'm wondering is, however, are there any other landscape photography lovers out there? They seem so few and far between. It seems the photos that get lots of comments or notice are the ones that are extremely creative. But let's not forget about the greatest show of creativity on earth - the landscapes we sometimes take for granted.
To honor the beauty of our earth, let's post a few of our favorite landscape captures in this discussion. Here are just a few of mine.
@jessleeca Thanks, Jessie. Unfortunately I have to leave here at the end of the week and go to a pretty bland area. Your photo is beautiful. I love the colors and the reflection.
Oh I love landscape stuff. I have some really good stuff that I took awhile back at a local hiking trail/park but it's not uploaded, but love everything here!
Landscape is my favorite too, and probably the biggest reason I started this project. But not for the reasons you'd think. See, I was stuck in Landscape mode and needed to force myself to learn to shoot other stuff. I've learned that macro is just as much fun to shoot, I've learned how to shoot indoors, learned sooo much about lighting and I've learned that I love lens flare. I still need to incorporate people though, and learn how to use the flash. It's all about growth.
Lovin' all these landscape photos, ya'll are all amazing!
@dejongdd I saw one of your photos this morning and decided right then and there to follow you. I'm heading to Colorado this summer (Mesa Verde - Four Corners area) and am looking forward to taking some shots that I hope can compare to some of the ones you've been recently posting.
Here's one of mine that gets a lot of good feedback from people.
I will also agree with @girlincamo I love taking landscapes and I have to force myself to take other things, so I've limited my landscapes as much as possible thus far. Spring Break and Summertime will be a different story however. ;-)
@webfoot I love the Four Corners area! Spend lots of time in Mesa Verde - the history there is overwhelming. Southwest Colorado is so different from the parts I'm used to visiting. I'm jealous!
Oh, thanks for the follow! Your landscape photos are awesome. I especially love the cactus! It reminds me of a palm tree and a cactus all rolled into one.
@dejongdd Deb,
That's a Joshua Tree. So named because of Mormon travelers coming through thought they resembled the prophet Joshua raising his arms to God. They are a type of yucca plant.
I LOVE shooting landscape! Unfortunately since I live in the city/suburbs, there aren't a whole lot of landscape shots to be taken until I go on vacation. Here are two that I have on my project.
I enjoy doing landscapes, especially with mountains and water, but I've also been known to do the tulip fields that are about an hour north of my home every spring. So far, I haven't done any for this project. The opportunity hasn't presented itself yet.
Beautiful pictures everyone!
I love landscapes too! I went to the Canadian Rockies in 2009 it was an awesome trip! I have pictures on my flickr site if anyone wants to take a look: http://www.flickr.com/photos/terrydphotography/sets/
@dejongdd Your shots from here in Colorado turned out amazing! Love it! My favorite types of shots to take are landscape shots! I am constantly searching out the next shot (while trying to keep my eyes on the road! Almost worse than texting and driving!).
I absolutely love landscape photos. Usually, someone elses. I haven't been very successful. I just need to spend time "focusing" on landscape. I truly enjoy your landscape postings (so stunning!!!!!) as well as those of others.
Ok, now I'm on a mission.
@hillsgirl Go to the picture you want to post, then in the right column, highlight and copy the "share code". Then paste it in here. Once you hit post, it should show up.
As an avid hiker and nature lover, landscape photography is tops for me - I live in a stunningly beautiful wine district on the southern tip of Africa - but alas, like you, I've already realized that those shots are not getting the main attention here on 365

A nice sunset over a frozen lake... :)
Not as breathtaking as your landscape because this is just the span of my yard, but you gotta love trees + sunshine + silhouettes!

A night shot of the same. Want to do a better one though
Loch Lomond taken last summer with my p&s

This is the closest thing I have to landscape right now. These are boats that were capsized from Hurricane Ivan in 2004.

I enjoy landscapes too but I've really grown bored of my surroundings in the past few weeks and have no time to go anywhere else :(
