Just a question. It seems quite a few people have stopped posting in March or early April, and as we are approaching mid-year, there may not be many people joint (?).
I hope to still be here.. I have so much to learn, and is there a better place to learn everything lol.. I am in for the long haul.. Though i recently noticed that several people who I follw and a few that were following me have since stopped posting photos. Its a bit like any course, there will always be a drop out rate. For my psychology course, they estimate a 60% drop out.. So I guess for something like this, it could be higher in comparrison.
I noticed that too! It used to take me quite a while to go through all the posted photos on my home page but now it only takes a minute. Could it be that the weather is a bit better and people are spending more time outside? If that was the case, I'd just be coming up with better photos!
Started my project in Feb/March?...I'm planning on being here til the end!
Very good question Nod, I'm considering leaving as well. I will finish my project and keep on posting on my facebook profile, but I do not have the time to look and comment other 365's. I have not decided yet but - love the idea of the 365 project page as a community but a well function community need everybody to participate to work so - yes I think I have my answer right there. hmmmm
But I have a second running, which I started January 1st and I'm still going strong! Of course, once that's done, I'll probably go for a 52 weeks project or something to that effect. Who knows... one day I might just conquer 100 Strangers :)
I'll be here this summer until October, that's when I finish my first year. I'm not sure what i'll do after that. I hope that I still be here in some shape or form...
If you want statistics just go to the "Browse By Day" page and look at previous dates. From memory we had 8,000 photos posted Jan 1st 2011, 4,000 April 1st 2011, so lost quite a few this year. Last year we didn't lose as many, but I don't remember the numbers off the top of my head; Browse By Day can tell you easily enough, though :)
I hope to be but just lately Ive been close to giving up :( I dont feel like I have the time to get good shots, feel like my shots are getting boring and not getting many comments but maybe Im just being paranoid and its because People are busy.
I love it here and love everyones Photos, Keep up the good work 365'ers :)
I'm well into my second year ... haven't missed a day yet! Still loving it. Still enjoying the folk I follow and who follow me .... smaller community this year than last ... but that's okay. Miss some folk quite a lot.
I've thought about quitting many times. Only because I started on a lark and I'm not sure, sometimes, what I'm getting out of the project. I like the interaction with everyone, and the community, but sometimes time because a problem. However, I've ordered myself a new camera, so that should be some incentive to keep going! I started in January and I'm still here, at least for now!
Four months in and going strong - the plan is for you all to be stuck with me for the year! :) Some people here are so creative and come up with interesting ideas throughout the year. For now, I rely more on all of the gifts that nature has to offer, and with that plan I hope to be able to make it through the year, perhaps beyond.
I'm assuming it's that New Year Resolution thing. Most people have fallen off the wagon on their diets, etc by now. They had good intentions and were gung ho to start, but lost steam. Personally, I'm sticking around to at least my 365th day.
I started last November 2010. I was able to start the year 2011 and so far I'm enjoying it and it helps my photography grows more and me learning lots of things from other members too .
well, i don't know what next after i completed 2011. I guess Ross should think something more that could be more exciting in here. maybe we can give some ideas and suggestion that could be more interesting, fun and more enjoyable. everything needs to be upgraded, advance and more creative that could be worth continuing. Thanks
I still have 105 photos more to post then I'm done but I'm thinking of staying for another year. I'm hooked to 365, makes me unwind after a long busy day. On my second year, I'll probably just upload once a week or visit once in a while. But then for sure, I'll make it a go. In the meantime, there are still 105 photos to accomplish.
@viranod In a day or two I will be exactly 1/3 of the way through and overall I have not found it that difficult. I can see the difference in my photos and where I am finding photos. Now while I take several photos every single day, there are some days where I just have many excellent photos that I may use on a different day. I also and enjoying the inspiration of the people I follow (love the taxi cab camera out the window). I promise here and now I will finish if you finish. The hardest part is over and that was the really cold winter where everything is grey.
i started in january and am still going much to my husbands annoyance lol as he said i would never stick at it lol!! I notice lots of my followers and people i was following have dissapeared off the radar:-( i am getting very few views compared to when i first started
A) I've been here since December.
B) I haven't posted a photo every day; I just don't work that way.
C) At the rate that I *am* posting, it will take me three years to fill my one album.
D) Nothing says that an album is ever "finished" just because all the spaces are full. One can delete older photos and post new ones. Heck, I've already done that twice, when I deleted "Theme" photos that were not my best work (such as it is). Plus, one can always become an ace member and have three albums here. I intend to do that, at some point. A good photographer always has one more shot in her/him ;-)
E) Does it really matter? If you like this place, tell some friends. If one of them joins, then if you drop out, the net loss is zero. I've already done that, and I plan to be around for a while :-)
I noticed this! I have been here for almost a year.(yay) and have no plans to quit! I have done every day regardless of what was going on and I love the challenge! Just wish more people didn't stop, quit, disappear off the face of the earth? haha
@viranod
I don't know if it makes a difference to others but I feel more committed since paying up. I'm not quitting in a hurry!
I did find this place through Facebook though, I wonder if the expansion early in the year was fuelled by the FB app (think about it, great advertising), and now that is gone, expansion is slower. That might explain FB's deleting the app - too much free advertisement for 365project!
If I find I'm hungry for more pics than I see in the feed, I just surf the latest or popular set and add a few more people, view their pics and comments and so on. Right now I get plenty of content in my feed :)
I started the first of the year and think I'll make it until the end. Sometime it's a little discouraging when few people look at your photos and even fewer comment but I'm getting over that and doing this project for me. :)
I'm on year 7 and have no plans to stop... I started doing a photo-a-day in 2004.
@dmortega - The longest running photo-a-day that I know of is this guy -- http://www.flickr.com/people/1picaday/. He started with film back in 1989. I think he ended his project in January of this year at just over 8,000 days.
Started on 22 jan this year, after seeing it on the news. 365 project is amazing, I am the local town cryer when it comes to promoting this site, most people I have told have joined!
It is now a big part of my life, "Great project, great people, inspiring photos...
@indiannie_jones I think that would be quite a challenge... tempted... As for continuing my project when I'm done at the end of May? I'm not sure. I thought I wasn't but I have discovered a new form of art in my photography and I think I might want to pursue it and see if I can't do that for 365 days. Debating.
I'm pretty good at sticking to stuff like this and because I started the project on my blog I feel some responsibility to keep it up so I have interesting things to post there. Heck, some days (weeks even) it's about all I have to post so without my daily photos the blog might be pretty dull. I'm not one for New Year's resolutions so for me this project wasn't some big goal for 2011. I think March is typically the time of year when people tend to discard their resolutions or lose interest in projects like this that they're inspired to start in January. I'd be curious to see the stats from 2010 as well.
I won't stop. Even though I've been ridiculously busy and my photos have hit a serious craptastic decline, I'll keep going anyhow and be thankful for those that stick along with me.
I plan on staying at least the year. There will be days I won't be able to post due to lack of Internet access, but I still plan on taking a picture every day. I continue to learn from other 365ers on how to improve and I doubt if that will ever stop.
The most critical time will probably be summer for me, as I am away for four weeks without internet to post my pictures. But if can make it through that time, I'm pretty sure I'll make it through the entire project. :) I'm just having too much fun to quit. :P
I started Jan 1 and I intended to finish but I know I am becoming very discouraged. It stinks signing in and seeing the little gray comment symbol. I want it to be black all the time but I know thats not realistic. But its hard, nonetheless.
i am keen to carry on as i'm really enjoying finding photos!!! i'm getting a lovely collection which i am proud of. i am sticking to it!! i do wish the photos wouldnt move on so quickly though on the browseing page as you tend to miss lots and not many people see yours to get new followers....... but hey...... i'm enjoying myself!
So far I've been able to keep up but it is kind of taking over my life :) I'm getting a little frustrated with my p&s and its limitations. But, I'll keep plugging away and hopefully finish the year (I started Jan 2).
I just started in March. I have no intention to quit any time soon. I'm a competitive person, so seeing everybody's great shots gives me a reason to keep going. Plus, I'm pretty boring and this gives me something to do every day other than my same routine. I'll definitely stick it out through one year and most likely continue on after that. Psh, I'm not even engaged yet, so I have engagement, wedding, honeymoon, moving, pregnancy, and new babies to document. I've only just started!
It is a goal of mine to finish the year! I would love to do it next year, but I do not want to get ahead of myself. When the time comes we will see. :)

you're right so many people who started in January have stopped.

365 has become part of my daily routine and I look forward to uploading my shot each day and seeing what other people have posted.
It's helped me work on and improve my photo composition and to find a photo opportunity in the 'ordinary and mundane' things.
Silly question....what happens at the end of the first 365, are you not able to post in the album any more?
I intend to finish 365 - after that, we'll see.
