Is it just me, or is there less traffic now here on 365? I noticed there have only been a few comments on my pics lately; well, maybe it's just that they've become boring, but there seem to be less comments on pictures of other 365ers also.
I'm halfway through the project now, and many of those I have followed have stopped posting meanwhile. Well, guess that's just the way it is, and people are busy with other things in the summer.
yep i was about to give up ..i havent posted for a few days at a time i thought my pics must have gone down hill..but noticed the same ppl on pop page day after day so mabe ppl have got fed up and gone
@nicksdarkroom@cazink : Glad it's not just me, but of course it's a bit sad.. @shenay : I've noticed the same about the Popular page, and when you visit the Latest page, you'll see that there are not as many uploads as there were a couple of weeks ago. Maybe it's the summer break?
I just had a clear out of "dead" accounts the other day out of the 198 I was following over 30 hadn't been active in the past month, some a lot more and out of the 157 followers I have nearly 20% are no longer active :(
I'd like to have more active followers but at the end of the day this project is for me. comments or not I'm learning a lot and I have some people who regularly looka t and comemnt on my photos who I am so grateful to, they often make me smile and if I've had a bad day cheer me up to take my camera with me again the next.
@shadowdancer I've noticed you're following relatively few peopel compared to who are following you. The best advice I've been given here is go follow other people, look at their photos and comment, chances are they will reciprocate. Also take part in threads liek the browse and picks.
Don't really know! Just a month posting now and never had many views/comments. Probably because I don't follow many people who then of course don't follow me back :-)
@nicksdarkroom : Yes, I hope so, too. Also, there was this long July 4th-weekend in the US, I figure many are with their families right now. Hope they will be back tomorrow. :-)
@emmar84 : I have also cleared my list a couple of days ago because many have stopped posting; and right now, I'm looking for new people to follow. :-)
And you're right, I have stopped posting in the discussion threads a while ago because I wasn't feeling well, but I hope I will do that more often in the future. I've also started commenting on more people's pics again. @mastermek : I'm following you! ;-)
@shenay People on the pop page do have many followers and therefore many views. I believe you have to follow many people and comment on there pics to become popular...a lot of work...and probably tiresome too.
I have just started, but it happened to me. I used to find a bunch of awesome photos from one person and when I wanted to see the last one BOOM! The last one was from May =(
It's been like this since I started here... like 2 weeks ago hehe
@mastermek iv been on the pop page a few times its nothing to do with comments some ppl post a bead and its omg thats amazing lol serious...others have to take something incredible...
@mastermek : Yes, you'll get more followers that way. And once one of your pics was on PP, the number of followers will increase. You can also submit your pics for challenges etc., that way more people have a chance to see your work.
@shadowdancer I noticed, thanks for the follow. For inpirational purposes I'll follow you back, haha! I think most important is the fun you'll get out of this project. Of course comments are nice but to be honnest it's not why I joined 365. It's just fun to look at the world with a diffent view for a change. I planned to keep the challenge up!
@emmar84 I agree with what you said Emma - at the end of the day, this project is for me. I've met some wonderful and supportive people through the project, and they've inspired me to keep going through rough patches, but it's all about me (in this case I'm allowed to be selfish, I think!)
@shadowdancer I've been noticing the same as the others too. Hopefully it will pick up after the Northern Hemisphere Summer...
I've said this on plenty of other threads like this. There are plenty of people who are active and commenting. So, go search them out if that is what you are looking for. Basically, it all comes down to the effort you put in.
yes, i've noticed too, I had a bit of a clear up and then spent some time gathering new followers...the 400 odd i have doesn't reflect "live" followers - i reckon there's not even half of that still posting! But then I guess that's the challenge we all face - it gets tough when you fall behind commenting and especially when you have inspirationless days!!
@shadowdancer ... Yep, I thought it was just me, but I've noticed it too. I am still going strong with 365 and will make it to the end. I miss those who are no longer on 365 :-(
@shadowdancer ... Hum, you may have it right about the "Summer break". I hope folk come back to 365, as its a wonderful site, experience and its upped my game in photography.
I try to comment on everyone who follows me, it doesn't matter if they comment all the time or very infrequently as that is their prerogative. I also have friends who I follow and I try to comment on their photos as often as possible, but what gets me lately are the new followers coming on board and then you never ever see a comment from them on your posts or when you have followed someone for a long time and they have so many new followers by now that you get dropped.
It is quieter, and people who use to be regularly comment on my pictures very rarely comment. Oh well, like others have said, this project is for me and with or without comments/views I will truck on. :)
Also, maybe someone has already said this, but a lot of people are on holiday. But like people are saying, this is a project for yourself and if you make it more than that, it becomes less enjoyable. I sometimes feel like 365 is like high school; you have the popular kids that get comments like crazy, and then you have the "regular" kids that get a few comments with each post. Either way, like I said, it's about documenting each day and seeing yourself improve. You're great though!
A lot of people have recently finished, also. But....it will pick up again, like it always does and everyone will be doing their happy dances as they read the comments they get :)
I noticed...In fact I almost gave up because of it...in fact I may give up soon.
I feel as if maybe I'm not improving. So why try. (Pessimist is present)
i think it has gotten quieter after facebook got rid of the 365 app, so it's a little harder to tell people that you have new pics...but that is just my opinion
@suomiiiii I hope you don't give up. Make it about your every day life....document each day so that at the end of your 365 days you'll be able to look back and see how you've improved, how you felt certain days, and how you've grown as a person. Really, don't give up.
Definitely quieter. But I myself can't complain because I have been less active as well. With so much going on over the past week and next few weeks I will be much less active. I guess it may be the same for many people.
I've been on here since late February 2011 and I've often wondered how many people there are on 365 it would be interesting to know that. I feel that you get out of it what you put into it. I work almost 6 days a week full time and it's a real challenge to get a photo a day AND to comment on everybody else's pic...especially when they put multiple pics up each day....but I do because I like the feedback and advice I get from other people who are far better than I. Oh and by the way it's winter over here and where not into school holidays, maybe it's because it's cold.
@veekay If you want to find out, go and browse by day. See how many photos get uploaded each day. Check the start of the year, and check two weeks ago (quite a lot of people don't upload that often, so checking two weeks back for the "current" number allows for them). That'll give you a rough idea.
@shadowdancer Thanks for posting this. I checked out your pictures going back to the first of June. You take some great shots. Looking forward to seeing more shots to come
@eyebrows Thankyou, but I'd like to know how many people not pictures, as lots of people put multiple entries in each day, having said that it would still give you a round about number:)
@shadowdancer I noticed that 300 follow you but you only follow 50 or so, that would be the reason why your comments are slowing down. For my own self, if someone takes the time to comment and follow me then I will follow them back and try and comment on their pictures:)
It is quieter but agree with @veekay that you dont reciprocate the follows so people probably drop off. You have some good photos with very depressing and negative text.
I have found that the 365 project is similiar to blogging. If you want people to comment and follow on a regular basis, you need to comment and follow them. It is a time intensive project so I need to remind myself that it is a hobby, not a job. Hope you continue to have fun with it.
Well, yes, you guys are probably right and I should comment more often (like I did in the beginning), and follow more people (I have recently deleted the "dead accounts" from my list), but it's not just that. It seems to me there are less uploads in general; i. e. when I upload a pic these days, it can be seen on the Latest Page forever, whereas when I started this project, pics used to disappear from LP within seconds because there are so many new uploads.
But like some others has said, 365 is not only about getting comments, but also to enjoy other people's work, and maybe getting inspired... I have started checking the New Faces page more often now, and already found some great talents there. :-)
@sparkle@clarissajohal@bkbinthecity@jannkc : Thank you for what you said about my pictures and for taking the time to look at them. As for the negativity in some of my pictures texts... I'm sorry for that, but my life IS depressing at this point, for so many reasons that I cannot name them all, but since 365 is like some kind of blog, or journal, I think it's just natural that this shows up in my pictures as well. @bruni : Hmmm, good point. I was also wondering about that. Or, if people are following hundreds of people, you'll easily get lost in the crowd, so to speak. That's one of the reasons why I have kept my list of people I follow rather small, because I don't want to miss these peoples' pictures. @pinwheel : Oh, they did? I haven't even noticed. Could be one of the reasons, yes, but personally, I didn't use that app anyway. @suomiiiii and everyone else: Please don't give up! :-)
I find the more I become involved with this project & the people I follow & then they follow me, it gets harder to keep up & almost becomes a chore ! It makes it worse when they have multiple photos on & then I tend only to comment on one . I am retired but if I was working full time it would be a nightmare keeping up! I love this project & for me the comments are my encouragement but don't expect them always.
I'm very new to this and technologically challenged so I don't know how to post anywhere except on my own project. I also have a very simple camera with no bells or whistles(at least none I know how to use yet) so my pictures at this time are very basic. Can't wait to learn more from all of you!
Yes, I have noticed a huge drop in activity. Unfortunately I am guilty of being so busy that I don't comment on others' photos as much as I used to, so I shouldn't complain about them not commenting on my work. Try not to let it bother you (although I must confess that is easier said than done) and just keep building your photography skills.
I'm fairly new (just a couple of months) and I would love to know how many active members there are. I've noticed I see a lot of the same people commenting on work but of course it could be that we are all drawn to the same sort of images but that has made me wonder if there are not really that many of us????
I also notice that day after day the same people are on new faces - how are these pictures chosen? Would be interesting to know...it can't be random as if you press the shuffle button you only get the same pictures over 3 or 4 pages in a different order.
By my extremely rough calculation we're losing about 15 people per day at the moment, although this rate has steadied from roughly double this earlier in the year. Gauged this from looking at 30 days worth of total uploads and approximating how many decreased per day based on that. Statistically dubious, sure, but gives you an idea...
There's also the fact that some people do tend towards getting bored of commenting on stuff. It's only natural, enthusiasm for a given thing wanes over time, typically. Unless of course it's your one true passion in life, but for the vast majority of folks here that's not the case
I know that I just got back from a two week span away from home... so I'll be catching up with uploading and such! I haven't had a chance to even upload, nevermind comment. I'm sure I'm not alone. I, too, have seen a decrease in my views/comments... it's probably just the time of year.
@shadowdancer Everyone has their moments where life seeps into their photographs, no apologies needed. If this site is cathartic for you, then that's good. Right? (:
@bruni I have to add to your thoughts because I struggle with this issue, BIG time. It's gets difficult to comment on every follower. I started out my Project over a year ago making a pact with myself to comment on EVERY followers photos, all of them. Once I hit over 100 followers however, it became impossible. There simply aren't enough hours in the day. The only pact I can keep with myself now is to promise to comment on everyone's photo that takes the time to comment on mine. It kind of sucks because there are people that get lost in the shuffle, but I do try and catch up if they comment only periodically. If they don't make comments at all--well, I'm sorry, but I can't go hunting for them. I have a family and a life and like I said before, not enough hours in the day to do that. I wish!
Im still here :)
I am so busy with every day life that I dont get on here much and lately by the time I do Im nodding off so I upload then go to bed usually around 12am, My Photos aren't that great because I just dont get the time but I want to complete 365 Days so Im trying hard, Will comment on more Photos when I get few minutes, Keep up the good work everyone :)
If you check the number of pictures posted (via browse > by Day) and work your way back to the beginning of the year, Jan 1, 2011 was in the 9000's and yesterday was in the 2500's, just a bit of a drop.
Hard thing for people to do everyday, especially summer (depending on the hemisphere you're in)
And how many people want to see the back in of the cars I follow to and from work each day??
I try to look every day at my followers pictures, even i dont comment every day.It takes a lot of time and there are evenings when I have no time to speak to my family because I am busy with this project

Hope to be back online again , just feeling sheepish and out da loop type thing now..
..oh, so that's hi to you guys: @sparkle @clarissajohal @meggageg and any others bothered.
hope you all well and all...x
