A big thank you to everybody who participated in and voted on the 6th Mundane Challenge: an electrical plug. I was quite blown over to learn that I won that challenge - there were some danged exquisite entries!
This mundane theme was started by Aaron (@grizzlysghost) for those of us who may have lost inspiration. He suggested we take an ordinary, boring object and start shooting it. Turn the ordinary into the extraordinary!
Sooooo... this week's subject is a PAPERCLIP. In order to keep this as mundane as possible, let's just stick with your basic paperclip - no binder clips and such. It can be any kind of shot: high key, low key, DOF, blur, forced perspective, bokehlicious, anything you can think up.
The only rule; there can be no question the object of the challenge is the star!
Tag your shots "mundane-paperclip" and post your favourites on this thread. It's Monday night here, and I am hoping a week will be enough for everyone to get their shots in, so we'll let things run until end of day on Monday, January 14th. I'll select my five favourites and post them for voting on Tuesday, January 15th.
To start things off, I took a paperclip shot this evening. (Yeah, I'm feeling a bit like a one trick pony... what can I say? It's been a long day!)
So awesome! I began my 365 journey (practically) with a paperclip series for a challenge; one whole week (check out the whole week if you're feeling nostalgic!) I'm in! ;)
@grizzlysghost thanks, it's an interesting challenge in creativity... very interested to see how diverse collection of forks I'm going to come up with :)
In the 1970s I took an exam with the OU for a course called 'Art and Environment'. It was a great course. One of the exam questions was to list as many uses as possible for a paper clip.
First time I've entered one of these ... some fantastic stuff from peeps. Here is my attempt - inspired by something I saw someone do with a coat hanger !
I thought I would give the mundane challenge a try, after an hour an a half this was the best I had.
I tried boiling a paper clip in a pan, using the 2nd curtain flash mode with a long shutter to try and get an action shot, turning paper clips into cartoon characters. The conclusion is I need a macro lens, more inspiration and more practice (well that is why I am doing this project)
Just went and had a look at the paperclip week...fantastic!!!
@grizzlysghost... very cool.
@janim oooh yes, I saw your forks! Love them. Must check out the latest... damn I need more hours in the day.
I'm a first time mundane-er. Love the theme!
as for picking 5 finalists for voting next week - clearly i am going to have my work cut out for me! these are some wicked cool entries!
