It's Jul-iPhone!

July 2nd, 2013
... or Jul-iPad... or Jul-cameraphoneofyourchoice!

All month I'll be filling an alternate album with nothing but shots from my iPhone or iPad, because I like to switch things up and put away my fancy-smancy cameras on occasion! Also, I like to remind myself that my camera phone really does have a place in my "camera collection!"

If you wish to participate, I will choose some finalists in August and we'll have a vote! Tag your photos with "Juliphone" and include the following info:
- Camera used and any special attachments (like lenses)
- App used, if any
- Program used to process the image (MUST be native to the phone/tablet/pod, NOT imported into photoshop or something equally heinous!)
** You do NOT have to take a shot every day all month; just whenever you want!

Aaaaand... that's it! Here's one to start us off:

Device: iPhone 4 w/macro lens from Photojojo
App: Camera Awesome
Processing: Camera Awesome

hmmmm... tempting... i have decided to learn how to use the iphone camera... so that i can take a decent shot with it in a pinch... but i was thinking of mostly posting to instagram... i'll have to give it some thought... this is a really impressive close up, btw... see, that's an area i need to work on... i can't get the focus close up at all!

Ben
Sounds like my kind of challenge! Nice idea :)
July 2nd, 2013
It is an interesting idea, but don't those of you with "accessories" like the macro lens have an unfair advantage?
July 2nd, 2013
@houser934 Absolutely not Kathryn, no more than someone having a glass ball to shoot through, or christmas lights to make bokeh, or living on the beach, or... everything! :) Honestly, a great shot has so much more to do with the photographer than the equipment they are using. Keep an eye on the tag; you'll see what I'm talking about.
July 2nd, 2013
I am going to consider this....is the aim to do a shot with the iphone/pad/camera every single day? That sort of challenge? Or just tag the ones we get that fit the bill? Great macro, btw! @tara11 just gave me the lens kit for Iphone! Cannot wait to get in there and see what it will do.
July 2nd, 2013
@espyetta No need to make a whole month of it, just tag your intermittent camera phone shots and you're in! :)
July 2nd, 2013
I don't have an iphone/pad or anything, but I look forward to seeing everyone's pictures
July 2nd, 2013
This is my kind of challenge!!
July 2nd, 2013
Vee
Great concept for a challenge! I hope to join in:)
July 2nd, 2013
A great idea. I am going to try and add a few from my I-phone. I you don't have any editing apps yet can you use picmonkey ?
July 2nd, 2013
@bristolrose Great Kathryn! There are tons of free editing apps out there, I'd prefer people not use picmonkey for this challenge (unless picmonkey has an app...)! Heck, you might not even need an editor; it might be great straight out of your camera!
July 2nd, 2013
I'm in. I usually carry my macro lens attachment and iPhone and have been using these shots on 365
July 2nd, 2013
@grizzlysghost OK, sounds good. Just wanted to clarify.
July 2nd, 2013
Here's an iPhone photo that I had a lot of fun with
July 2nd, 2013
@abhijit That is gorgeous!
July 2nd, 2013
@grizzlysghost I am in for at least some of the time.
July 2nd, 2013
@grizzlysghost I love this idea. There are some very creative people out there using the incredibly powerful tool that's right in their pockets or purses. Thanks for the challenge, Aaron!
July 2nd, 2013
Sounds like a great idea, Aaron. I really need to start using my Smartphone camera. My photos on the phone go into my Dropbox and then I use an editing app/apps on my iPad. Would that be acceptable to everyone? I do have apps on the phone but I like the bigger screen on the iPad sometimes.

July 2nd, 2013
I'm in! Same question as @ipost4u... I also like to shoot with my iphone and edit with my ipad.
July 2nd, 2013
Sounds great! My phone camera is mainly used when I'm too lazy to lug the dslr around...I've experimented with apps but have never really taken a shot with the idea of my phone camera being the star! I'm in!
July 2nd, 2013
Jo
Because I am lazy (and busy) I use my iPhone almost all the times these days (and its the one thing I have with me all the time). I send my photos via email (largest file possible) which I then open on the iPad and edit. Its so easy to do.

July 2nd, 2013
Brilliant, I don't have a DSLR and am needing a break from developing !
July 2nd, 2013
@ipost4u @seejillrun @joluise Use of iPad is absolutely allowed and encouraged :)
July 2nd, 2013
great idea Aaron, as always, it's not the camera, but the creativity, subject and composure in the shot that matters.
July 2nd, 2013
@Scrivna Great new profile pic Ross!
July 2nd, 2013
I love this idea and i'm glad i started up this month
July 3rd, 2013
All right, I'm in. I'm using the phone less and less now that I have a DLSR, but I'm sure I could learn to use it better. So, I downloaded "Snapseed" (I'm on a 'droid) and will see what I can do with phone only for a while for my special project. Thanks for thinking up the challenge.
July 3rd, 2013
@houser934 Snapseed is fantastic; I'll be using it a lot this month!

This challenge will be fun for me as I have been using my iPhone and new Olloclip lens a lot lately, and I do all of my processing using my iPad. Thanks, Aaron . . . Great idea :D

Mine from today, all on iPhone5 using Snapseed and Diptic:

Taken with Iphone 4S, used Slow Shutter app to take the photo. Then used Snapseed and Photowizard on I pad to edit...

July 4th, 2013
Same as above...I just slowed the shutter more so the water smoothed out
July 4th, 2013
And a puddle shot with lots of domes and drips....I had to ETSOOI this one, as the background stuff was ugly. ETSOOI-ed by using Snapseed and Photowizard on my IPAD
July 5th, 2013
iphone 4S processing: snapseed

Neat idea- gonna give this a go for the set of summertime pictures i'm posting this July :)

Ian
@grizzlysghost Hi Aaron, does it have to be an iPhone pic only or is Blackberry acceptable ? (With iPad photoshop app to process) or is that all a bit out of bounds for this one !?
July 5th, 2013
@streats Absolutely, any and all cameraphones are welcome!
July 8th, 2013
Great idea-using my iphone heaps lately
July 8th, 2013

Taken with my new iPad leaving the mail. Used a app called photo editor. It is a free app and simple but easy to use.
July 8th, 2013
Since I used four apps to process this iPhone pic I did for this challenge and ETSOOI-13 ... I just had to share it here.
July 8th, 2013
This is SOOiP - hipstamatic. I made a macro lens using the lens from broken old camera. This is a photo of part of that camera - about 7mm
July 8th, 2013
Hi this is the first comp I've entered x I have added the tag "Juliphone" to one if my July pics, does that mean its now entered? Thanks
July 8th, 2013
@gijo1610 Congratulations and welcome Joanne! Yes, your photo is entered, that's all it takes! :)
July 8th, 2013
I just ordered a lens for my iPhone! I didn't know they existed! Yay! I'm so excited!
July 9th, 2013
Yay! I am back from vacation and used my iPhone quite a bit! I can not get that macro oliclip to work for me though..:(

'Inspiration' xxx
July 10th, 2013
When I started this hours long still life project, I had no intention of it being a "Juliphone" entry. I used my DSLR and two lens (50mm and 18-55mm) , external flash, and tripod to shoot pics of the set up. Snapped a few with the iphone at the end. Was so pooped when I got home from lake, I did not want to get out laptop, memory card, etc.. so I just played with the pic on my ipad and decided to go with it.

July 10th, 2013
Just love using the magnetic macro lens with my iPhone. Edited in Snapseed

@grizzlysghost
Aaron, thank you for suggesting this theme for July. I joined in for the last 12 days but I enjoyed it soooo much. I found great inspiration and learnt a lot how to control processing on a small screen with new apps (Snapseed, Lo-Mob, mainly) . Thanks!
Now I don't know what to do next: camera or iPhone photos??? iPhone photos tempt me a lot.....
July 31st, 2013
@mara19500 I'm glad you liked the theme! I really did it so I could also get to know my camera phone better and am glad I did! :)
