Ready for some fun, creativity and perhaps to learn something new? So what is a technique challenge? The host challenger selects a specific “technique” to try. It may be brand new for some, or just a challenge to be creative for others. Techniques may include high/low key, macro, portraits, landscapes, abstracts, the possibilities are endless. It could even be specific techniques in processing. The host will select a technique along with some links and examples. Constructive & kind feedback is encouraged. Feel free to share tips, suggestions or how you were able to get the terrific photo you did. Posting your photo on this thread is encouraged but not required. The challenges will last about 7 days.
To post a photo on this thread:
1) Go to your page that has the photo you would like to post.
2) Find the code located toward the bottom right side of your page. The code is on the right side of the word "share". Copy that code and paste it in this thread.
All photos must be taken within the challenge dates. Enter as many as you would like. Voting will last about 3 days. The winner will host a new challenge (or get someone else to host it).
This week’s technique challenge is Double/Multiple Exposures. This can be accomplished either in-camera or through processing. We did this as part of the Camera Settings Challenges so if you search "CSC-11" you can see some of the samples from last year.
TAG your photos “ technique11 “
Here are links to a few articles.

Challenge starts today, September 1st and lasts until Midnight September 8th. Voting will take place September 9-11th with the Winner announced on the 12th.
This double exposure was created in-camera
This photo is 2 5 second exposures blended in photoshop.
Playing around with some processing tonight so here are a couple more samples.
I used the "luminocity" blend mode set at 95% on these shots.
On this set of shots I used the "darken" blend set to 55%. This allowed the pine branches to only show through the white zinnia. It started to bleed through the yellow so I masked that section and painted it back out.
I did take a couple of in-camera double exposures but didn't like any of them.
@lstasel Laura, I have a question. Does multiplicity comes under this technique? Multiplicity generally have examples of the same person doing different things. Multiple exposure generally shows two or three exposures overlaid or blended one on one like your examples above. Are you expecting only one of these in this challenge or both are fine?
@ikamera Kiran, multiplicity is fine. It still involves multiple exposures, just a different method of combining the photos. Since the Technique Challenges, like the Camera Settings Challenges, are set up as a learning experience any information that you give with your entries will help everyone learn new techniques.
A link for multiplicity for any one interested in trying it. I don't know if it is my computer but none of the links I have entered are working properly. I have formatted a couple of times. Copy and paste is working at least. http://www.photoshopbuzz.com/multiplicity-image-photoshop/
@lstasel Thanks Linda! I'll definitely share the information of how I made it in the description when I take and upload the picture. I really want to try that technique if I get time.
PS Your link is not going through. It is coming back to this page.
I had several different attempts not made easy by either the camera not being able to remember that I wanted it set in multiple exposure mode or me not knowing how to set it correctly.
I like the concept though and may be visiting this technique again.
@barrowlane Very cool shot Rob. I know on my Nikon if I don't take the second shot pretty quickly after the first shot for some reason the multiple exposure function turns itself off. It also automatically shuts off after the set of shots is done and you have to reset.
@northy Very cool. Looks almostly ghostly with people passing through each other.
@bill_fe I like the soft focus of the double exposure in the first photo. Looks delicious also.
Love the second photo. Nice focus in the front of the photo with the foggy defused focus in the background.
@lstasel Laura, thank you very much! Those feet in the top right corner are just the socks thrown in the air but even I thought they looked like feet. Like how they add a bit more craziness to the shot.
I've been meaning to try this technique out again. :3

Trying Laura's link to see if links correctly.
Also, this has some cool examples.

Fantastic challenge...
This is basically SOOC. I just tweaked the colors and saturation a bit. :3
@mrsbaldy Great example of multiplicity.
@paign Fantastic in-camera double exposure.
Done with post processing since my camera does not have the capability to do a double exposure. I am calling this "The last day of summer vacation".

@jyokota The trees are alive. Very creative and surreal Junko.
