January 16th, 2014
I am not sure if the New Users know about these themes that are currently being used in our projects.

Macro-Monday .... Tag macro-monday
GRT(Gloriously Rusty Tuesday) .... Tag GRT
Black and White Wednesday ... Tag BWW
Throwback Thursday ... Tag Throw-thurs
Thankful Thursday ... Tag Thank-thurs
Food Friday ... Tag Food-Friday

Just tag your photo when you upload it and it will be included in each of the above themes.

Missy here is the info you asked about! @missysplace

As a newbie, I unfortunately don't know how to tag my photos, advice please? @kbird61
January 16th, 2014
I don't even kpnow what a tag is..
January 16th, 2014
@nikonizing Welcome! After uploading your photo there are three sections...title, description, and tags. To tag your photo list one of the items above in the tag section to be included in that particular theme. You may use as many tags you want that describes your photo. This is one of the ways others can view your photos. Click on the browse tab above and then click on by tags to get an idea of the tags that are popular. Hope this helps. Have fun! :-)

So, to tag I'd write - @GRT - in the tag section under the picture? @kbird61
January 16th, 2014
@nikonizing not quite. Say it's a picture of food for Food Friday. You'd list tags Friday, Food, "Tag food-Friday" etc. The tag says something about the type of picture it is. That way if people want to search for a specific type of photo they can see yours.

@barrie @nikonizing
When you upload your photo, above the date (scroll down once you see the upload, below the title and below the place where you enter a description), you'll see a thin box labeled tags. You can label your photo with anything you like to help you find it later (e.g., I label shot of my city "Chicago" or "bww" for black and white Wednesday or "nutmeg" when I posted photos of my dog). They are yours to choose. BUT, if you want to have a photo as part of a theme or challenge so others can fine it, you'd label it with the theme name or challenge name (e.g., "mundate-wheel" or "thank-thurs"). Case doesn't matter as they all show up as lower case. It's a useful tool for finding your own photos or for finding photos on a topic or theme (like flowers, pets, river, lilies, etc.).

Great info - anyone can participate in these?
January 16th, 2014
@vitalmommy Just jump in. If you have a photo that fits one of these tags taken on the appropriate day (rusty stuff on Tuesday, b&w on Wed., etc.) include the tag when the photo is posted.
January 16th, 2014
@vitalmommy yes and these themes are not contests.They are for inspiration and are like a gallery we can look at.
January 16th, 2014
For grt just add the tag grt
January 16th, 2014
Yes they are for ideas about what you can take pictures of and for inspiration like Hope said. Not a contest . Tags help us see other images in the same category!
January 16th, 2014
Here is an example of a picture I posted for grt yesterday!
January 16th, 2014

January 16th, 2014
Thank you for this info. I knew about tagging but didn't know about the weekly thing. Thanks!
January 16th, 2014
does the photo need to be taken on that day - or just posted on that day?
January 16th, 2014
Oh dear, another silly question.........are they the same themes each week. I know there are many competitions and themes on here, which is great, but having trouble keeping up with them. So these stay the same week after wek?
January 16th, 2014
have just answered by own question by clicking on one of the tags, yes it runs all through the year.
January 16th, 2014
Didn't know about these ones, may try and do one a week.
January 17th, 2014
January 17th, 2014
@debbie3108 Yes these stay the same every week and are just an idea if your having trouble thinking of something to take a picture of!

@brigette I try to take them on that day , but the Throw-back Thursday ones I use any picture from an earlier date that I want to share and make sure I use the date I am posting it for the date!

@kbird61

Kay! Thank you So Much for starting this! I wish there was a 'front door' that we Newbies came through, where great info like this was readily found!

I have a gagillion questions on many subjects throughout this website... but for now... is there a specific area to view the tagged photos for the specific days or do we just search for the tag? Sorry if this is already answered in this thread. I find I have too little time to 'get up to speed' here!
Many... many thanks! Lisa :)
January 17th, 2014
@lisatown Under the Browse tags.... look for the specific tags and then you can see all that has been posted for that tag! For Example : GRT is all the Gloriously Rusty Tuesday shots that have been tagged as such!

@kbird61

Again, thank you so much for the info Kay! One would be hard pressed to know/find GRT as a 'Tuesday Theme' in an 'organic' ... "what happens here on Tuesdays" kind of way ;) I appreciate your help!!

Throwback Thursday ??
January 17th, 2014
@kazprincess Throwback Thursday is when you can go back and use an image from the past. I like to sometimes post pictures that I haven't used but still want in my project.
