“It is a happy talent to know how to play.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Please, Hope - could you please explain who and what Danbo is? Yes LOL - us ignorant Aussies !!! Most of us think it's just a bunch of boxes stapled together and why don't people get a life!!! OK, LOL - but I am great at anthropomorphizing just about any thing I can lay my hands on,so will give the project some thought.
@ethelperry think he started in Japan,And the original is a box I believe. He is a prop for some digital photographers.It is a bit of a challenge to give him some personality. @grizzlysghost does some amazing Danbo images! True.,some people don't see the point of photographing a box...lol.But as a retired preschool teacher who spent many hours on the floor in the block area observing the imagination and play of children....I think even adults would benefit from imaginative play time! Fun is good for the soul.Especially in the brutal winter months around here.:)
Oh! Fun, fun, fun. Danbo and I haven't met, but I adopted Reginald during our trip to London. We'll see what he thinks of this weather we have here in CA.
Hi Ethel @ethelperry , Here is another example of Danbo having fun, but not for this competition as it was taken earlier. Danbo does have friends....I purchased my Danbo on Amazon.
Danbo and friends on a winter safari:
@mzzhope Thanks Hope! These animals come in handy as they are just Danbo's size! From a trip several years ago to South Africa. I'm excited about the new Danbo theme challenge and will try to do something, if not for this one (as heading out to CA tomorrow), the next one for sure.
@mzzhope
Thank you, Hope. I agree play is good for the soul. I also believe in keeping the inner child alive however old we are. Now that you have explained that Danbo is a symbol for building fantasy through imagination, it will be a fun project to watch.
@taffy I love your safari. I think if I took Danbo to the beach for a swim she would buckle, swell and lose her legs! but as Hope said in her introduction we can use other props for our imagination. It's now easier for me to "get it" when I see the fun posts.
@mzzhope I agree -- it was an amazing opportunity to visit there! Kruger was heaven for photographs and I just wish I could go again now that I know so much more about photography!
Cubebot is getting excited about this. I hope I can get home before dark today so he doesn't drag my camera in the snow by himself.
Some of you might recall what he did on his own on my birthday: http://365project.org/bill_fe/365/2013-12-31
I was able to capture him playing a little earlier in December also: http://365project.org/bill_fe/365/2013-12-29
Fun idea, Hope. I don't have a Danbo and I was sitting here thinking what could I use. My eyes fell on this little guy who's been on my desk as part of a promotional pen holder thingy for probably 6 years, maybe longer. Perfect! ;)
@mzzhope lolol I can't use Danbo because he's having minor surgery.....his arm is being superglued back on lol, but I shall grab one of Aaron's other toys :-) Great idea for a theme, Hope....so fun! :-)
We are rocking some pretty spring weather here in Atlanta, GA! At least for today.... Miss Melanie was striking poses all over the place. We went for a a walk also. I linked all my Miss Melanie shots (including a blooper shot) to this main one....and tagged for DAF1
