Thanks to everyone who voted for my edit in RAWCOMP15. It was really a lovely suprise ! :-)
To join the RAWCOMP challenge you first download the dng image from the link below and then edit it using your RAW editor only (eg Lightroom, Adobe Camera RAW or the editing software that came bundled with your digital camera). The resulting file is then saved as a jpeg, uploaded to your 365 album and tagged RAWCOMP16. The challenge host will select finalists from the submissions.
The picture I have selected for you to edit was taken in a small village in Bolivia. (remember you don't edit this jpg version)
Here is the link to the RAW file for editing:link This is a 4 MB dng file.
If you are really looking for maximum data to play with, there is also the option of using the 28 MB version of the same file: link
Challenge rules are:
"All editing must be done with a RAW processor, using no other software or plugins" - so use either Lightroom, Adobe Camera RAW, the RAW processing software that came with your camera, but nothing else that does anything more than RAW processing. There are some free RAW file processors available if you do not have one. see http://365project.org/discuss/general/19765/raw
This challenge is NOT about using ‘photoshop’ editing, plugins such as NIK or Topaz, or any other editing other than RAW processing. This differentiates it from WWYD, where any editing goes. Cropping the photo is allowed but must be done within the RAW processor."
All entries must be submitted by 9 PM Australian EDST on March 20 and the finalists will be announced on March 21.
Don't forget to tag your photo RAWCOMP16 and if you wish, post your edited images here using the ‘share’ code from your album page.
This challenge is a great way to learn something new, good luck everyone and I do look forward to seeing your entries!
This edit is all about tone and color, highlights and shadow, and sharpening, and unfortunately 365 is not cooperating between the "standard" view and the "view large" it seems. Here's my normal view, with the equivalent view large a trifle overblown. Even this here has lost the punch it has in the editor. :(
I used Lightroom 3
