We have a winner in Domenico Dodaro's image entitled "Green Straw"....Congratulations @domenicododaro the torch is passed to you!
Here are a few words from Colton regarding the challenge:
"Hi Lou,
First off, thank you for thinking of me as the artist for this challenge. I think that most photographers hope that over time they develop a recognizable personal style, and that you thought of me says that maybe I am succeeding in that regard.
It is interesting for myself to try to define what my photographic style is, but to see what others see in my work is also very interesting.
I have looked at all the photos numerous times, and though it wasn't easy, I have chosen one that I think is something I would possibly have taken had I been there myself.
When I am out taking photos, I try to look past the monotony of everyday life and try to find beauty and interest where you normally wouldn't see it.
Of all the images posted, Domenico Dodaro's Green Straw does this the best. The use of texture, lines, geometry, and shadows, make for an image that shows us more than the sum of its parts.
I would also like to say that Sarah, Helen Jane, and Nicole Campbell, all posted images that were very much something I might have shot.
Thank you again, and thank you to all the participants.
Oh well, I’m really humbled. And proud of course... and concerned about how to adequately manage the new challenge after you set the bar so high!
Thank you, Lou @pickerandagrinner (and also thanks to Vikki @summerfield who believed in it more than me!)
@domenicododaro Well deserved. There were lots of fantastic images and such enthusiasm for this challenge. I know Colton enjoyed the process very much. Please contact him, I am sure he would like to hear from you. L.
@jackies365 Thank you so much, it has been exciting! @amyk Too kind of you, Amy. Louis organised it in a wonderful way! @annied Thank you, Annie! I think all the images went to the artist, who chose from the whole bunch, without previous shortlisting by Lou. @pickerandagrinner Just doing it :-)
@annied It was lots of fun for me too and Colton took to it enthusiastically. Follow along on his Flickr page. He has such a unique style from simplicity and gorgeous colors. He shoots a variety of film cameras, Pentax 67 quite often among others. Great inspiration for all of us....L.
@pickerandagrinner thank you for a great challenge. It really made me think and I enjoyed participating. Well done on organising it. And big congratulations to @domenicododaro on being the winner with his superb green straw.
@carolineb7@helenhall I am so glad you enjoyed this challenge. I enjoyed putting it together and I know that Colton got a kick out of seeing others interpret his wonderful style...Cheers, L.
@domenicododaro@pickerandagrinner HI, I just wondered if this challenge is going to continue as it is one of my favorites., Or Have i somehow missed the new post.
@pickerandagrinner HI Louis, I relise that but it is just that Domemico has not be around much and it would be sad if this great challenge did not continue.
One of the challenges that I hosted was not continued by the winner and I had to start another round myself after trying contact the winner.
@sarahlth@pickerandagrinner Thank you for the reminder, Sarah. I know I am quite a bit late in restarting the artist challenge. I have been quite taken by work in the last weeks and in the little space left I tried to think what artist to choose.
I love Colton's work and I think his style (Urban exploration) could be well worth a continuing challenge, but I would leave this to Louis: after all the artist challenge has a sense in getting the 365ers to know about and to approach the style of more than one artist.
I hope tomorrow the new challenge will be online!
Thank you, Lou @pickerandagrinner (and also thanks to Vikki @summerfield who believed in it more than me!)
did you mention anywhere who the finalist were? Was wondering if I missed it lol - I have been busy
