Competition now closed. I'll be posting my six favourites for voting very soon ... I need time to reflect (pun intended ...). Lots of super entries - with & without water. :-)
Hello all - just a wee reminder that this competition closes at midnight on Monday 16th (tomorrow). I believe that midnight in the UK +13 hours will allow everyone everywhere to participate fully. But meantime, there's still some time left to post some more street shots and tag them street-46.

**CHANGE TO ORIGINAL POSTING **
I think I was overexcited at hosting a 365 competition and got carried away with living in an area where water and street photography go hand in hand - especially during the summertime.
Upon reflection, I think that setting a theme of water is perhaps a little too restricting for many folks, and so I'd just ask you to post your street photography shots, tagging them street-46 (and if they have any water in them, well, that will just be a bonus for me)!
I've left my original post below as it might be confusing to alter it - but to be clear, don't worry about water - just let us see what shots you can find out there on the street. Happy shooting!
I was very excited to win my first ever 365 competition (thank you for hosting @casablanca), and so now I am hosting for the first time! Apologies in advance if I get anything wrong!
Street photography covers a wide range of things, but given that summer is here, at least in the northern hemisphere, I'd like you to consider including water of some sort within a street photography context. Any kind of water; it could be a water fountain, a hose-pipe, a puddle, a river, a bottle of water ... anything at all, just make sure it's in a public place, and if you've also got people in the shot, all the better! B&W or colour, whichever you prefer.
The competition will run for 3 weeks from today, Tuesday 26th June until midnight on Monday 16th July when I will ask for votes for the finalists. Photographs must be taken on any day during this period.
Here's an example of a street photo of mine, which I posted last month, to get you thinking.
I'm looking forward to see what you come up with! Don't forget to tag your photos Street-46 and spread the word! You can also post your images on this thread if you like.
@jamibann Looks perfect to me! I'm no expert either. Running street-45 was my first ever go too, so we are the blind leading the blind LOL! But it's not that hard. Enjoy those entries when they come in. It's really fun to see people's pictures.
This is not in the competition either - but it's another example of what I'm looking for. I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone manages to find.
@jamibann Thanks! Going to try and find something with water in........not a whole lot of that around here, but I have a few weeks! I shall keep my eyes peeled.....
Hi @jamibann - just a comment on limiting the competition to a theme - if you look at the past street challenges they are open and people being in them is fairly essential otherwise you could end up with lots of really nice fountain shots. It took a while for 365ers to understand that the street challenge was not really for pictures of a nice street - which can be lovely but not really the point. Quite a fundamental change really.
Your winning shot was great btw but may not have fit with a theme - an unlimited challenge throws up such surprising and contrasting entries and encourages those who already find street a bit of a challenge because of the people element.
@gozoinklings Hi Catherine ... to be honest I haven't participated in any of the street photography competitions previously so wasn't aware that a theme hadn't been used before. Maybe it is too limiting? How about I modify the competition description to encourage all types of street photography, with a nod to water if at all possible?
@jamibann Good morning issi. That sounds fine and these challenges often bend and grow but photographing people and the human element were always the central theme to this challenge rather than just being a bonus if included. If that changes then it is no longer as it was initially intended to be. I restarted this challenge after it had fallen by the wayside some time ago. I say that not to assert any kind of authority but to explain my attachment ... over attachment perhaps!! Don't worry .. I'll get over myself!!!!
@gozoinklings After I saw your first comment, I did suspect that you were at the origins of the challenge - and please, don't worry, I'm very happy to modify ... I'm right in the middle of moving countries, so haven't had too much time to research what was done in the past. Hopefully the changes I've made to the original post will encourage more posts for the street-46 challenge! :-)
Back to Scotland after 27 years in far flung places. Would have loved to stay away longer, but hubby wants to retire!!! It’ll be fine though. We fly back tomorrow to start our new lives as ‘retirees’!!
@jamibann@gozoinklings I think that Issi's idea of including a limiting element is nice and stimulating. Of course the street photography theme must be maintained, but adding another element makes it fun. My point of view...
@caterina yes, if maintaining the street theme means keeping people as the central element - let it run and see where is leads - i'll be keeping an eye out for water if i manage to get out & about!
We've got some great entries for the Street-46 competition - with and without water! Keep 'em coming folks. @lumpiniman - some great recent entries from you!
