Hello!! These last few weeks have been nutso with swim competitions and it won't get much easier until after February, but I had a few minutes today to look through the Object Challenge-Tree and OH MAN!! There were SO many wonderful shots!! I picked out 7 to show off but it was so hard to pick out those few. There really were some great photographs.
Have you ever thought of how crazy it is that the people on this site, or photographers and artists in general can look at the same exact subject in such a different way? That we can find one object, yet the photographs that spawn from our imaginations of that exact same object are completely and totally different.
I propose a weekly challenge! Each week, on Friday, I will name an object that we all take a photo of. Then we post them on this thread and see how completely different each of us saw that object! (and of course suggestions for objects each week are COMPLETELY welcome!)
How about this week we do...*drumroll please*....CIRCLES!!
Put your creative caps on people...where do you see circles? How can you make a circle out of something completely different? OR...where do you see a circle where no one else would? Be creative here!!
Let's tag this week's can "objectchallenge-circles".
Also...up until now I haven't been making this objectchallenge a competition. We could leave it as is and just show off good work in the next challenge, or we could go all out and vote on the top 5 etc. The winner could pick the next object. It's up to you guys...what do you think?
I also want to throw in these two wonderful shots that made it to the Top 20 this week that are of trees as well!! (not tagged for the object challenge, but that's ok they are still outstanding)
I won't be entering so it really shouldn't matter what I think but the benefits of it being a competition is that it becomes more of a whole community activity as people can get involved in the voting.
i rather lean towards the no voting thing - - there are plenty enough competitions here and in life in my humble opinion. that said, i can also vote is that is the consensus. :)
I'm okay either way, but voting would give me an idea of what people like. I'm surprised with the comments I've received from some photos, and it really helps me know what is popular or appealing to others.
I really enjoy trying to do the object-challenge and the themes as well. I'm glad you came up with the idea. If it is easier to put it up for a vote I don't think that's a problem, but no voting is fine too. Guess that didn't help much, but I think either way is great!
@barrymikhal well....if we're talking greatest team of all I wouldn't say the titans. boo...we all know that's not quite true. But maybe the Bears... that's a hard one. Definitely not the Cowboys...how can you say that with Tony Homo running your ship?? C'mon man. But the Titans are the BEST !! The best what? um. I don't know. but they are my team!!
@amyhughes@kirsty1975 Thanks! :) I took a picture of some buttons then opened the picture up in Paint.NET and used radial blur then inverted colors to tweak it.
Well, I'll have to find some circles and enter in this one since the other two are all girly this week (passion and hearts). I don't know why people get so wrapped up in this valentine's day mess and think everyone else should as well. I wanted a theme of monsters or something.
@amyhughes LOL, well I can definitely submit some good monster photos for you. Horror is my life. I went walking today and saw some good circles but I didn't bring my camera. Hopefully I can get out tomorrow and find some to get shots of.
am not totally sure if past posts are allowed here... checked a few of the shots here and saw some are dated back - so I suppose it is allowed? if so, this is my entry... (if not, pls let me know and I can DELETE.. :)) )
@amyhughes W.O.W. I'm not sure I am good enough to do these types of challenges. Just looking at everyone's photos for circles makes me really nervous. I love looking at them though :)
Here is my first one for the challenge. We live next door to a Budweiser Distribution plant and I took this picture from my side yard. The wheels are the circles in this case.
OK, I'll add this one too just for Amy Hughes. I posted it on the mirror self portraits thread but then noticed it was a circle so it belongs here too. I put it on an older date. I'm the one with some skin on my bones. :)
A bit over weldom by the quality of the photos this week. What an amasing collect this week, so good to see.
Still I have a minor contribution anyway. :o)
Here's my circles:

I prefer it as a challenge not a competition too. Great to see what everyone else makes of the subject.
How about some bangles?
off to find circles :)
Thanks for picking my palm trees as one of your faves- what a great way to begin my experience on this site :)
Love the simplicity of these tubes!
I have two I liked of this same photo, one was cropped for a different perspective, see what you think
Happy Valentine's Day
My Valentine's present :-)

Here's my second one: Three circles on this one, I just thought it looked cool.
This is my first time participating in a challenge so any criticism or comments are totally welcome

this was a glass full of bubbles reflecting the light from the fireplace
Here is my entry, even though technically they are not circles, but they are close enough for me, haha
My eye, with tattooed eyeliner.
Absolutely gorgeous. Perfect capture.
I like the idea of making it competition.....
