Raymond was the lucky winner of last weeks theme Beautiful Garbage with his photo entitled Trash.
Raymond has kindly picked for us the theme of "Long Exposure" this week. I'm really excited about this theme as it's a great technique to play around with.
To enter your photo to this weeks theme, you need to upload and tag a photo with the tag "theme-longexposure"
Check out some cool examples here, here and here. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Entry to this theme starts on Monday (10th May) and will accept entries until Sunday night (23:59 GMT 17th May), voting will begin the following day.
Entries must have been taken and uploaded this week only! Entries outside of the date range will not be accepted. You can enter up to 7 entries (one for each day of the week).
Steve, you can still do long exposures with P&S cameras, well so long as it has the ability to set manual exposure.
If not, you can trick it by turning off the flash, focusing on something very dark, the camera will extend its exposure time to compensate then voila long exposure.
That technique could only really be used at night as it's more forgiving, but worth a try.
great theme!
I was wondering though, if theres any possibility of the weekly theme being announced a day earlier. Im in Australia and its tuesday by the time the theme gets announced.
Ross, thanks for the tips for long exposure with P&S's. I don't think mine has the ability to set it manually though (will get the instruction manual out), but maybe I'll try some night/dusk/dawn shots. The auto settings on these are longer exposures. It'll be a good experiment!
Another cheeky little tip is to put a pair of (clean) sunglasses in front of your lens, makes the sensor think it's a bit darker, and if you have polarising lenses too, you get the extra benefits of that!
Haha, good one Ross, I always use my polarising sunglasses in front of my P&S camera in harsh sunlight, works like a charm in getting much better lighting.
Should be very good for extending the shutter time as well I think.
