Today is day 300 of the project and my camera is dying and must be replaced.
Does anyone use the Panasonic TZ series? The TZ 60 is sophisticated but very expensive. The other TZ's have a zoom of X20 and 18.1 pixel and are more affordable, the price difference being on whether they have gps and wifi or not. How important is having those things? I don't have them now.
THank you! @naomima

If you don't speak or read Japanese, make sure you have the right language for the TZ60. Personally, I have never felt the need for WiFi to a cell phone or tablet, but then I always shoot raw and upload to Photoshop/Bridge via USB. GPS? Maybe for a world traveler. I have never felt the need, but perhaps 20 years from today me and others might have forgotten where I shot. if applications could translate raw coordinates to place names, that might be useful, but I've never seen that in-camera.
@frankhymus Thank you for those tips. So you favor the more sophisticated /expensive TZ60? That has a zoom of 30 while the others have 20. Now I have a zoom of 15.
I have wifi on my camera and never used it after a year of owning it. Just haven't needed it. If you are looking for a great zoom, check out the Nikon Coolpix P520. It has a 42x zoom. It's affordable and I've been able to take do all of the technical challenges I've been given here on 365.
I have the TZ25 which I took on hols to France last year and it was great. No viewfinder but the TZ60's viewfinder is rather small anyway. I don't need Wi-Fi on a camera.
I think there are two models between the TZ25 and the TZ60. (I don't know where you are, but I actually got my TZ25 from an online clearance of new cameras at Argos at an unbelievably good price.)
don't feel too loyal to one kind of camera, go to the sales and look on amazon and see where your budget can stretch, I've used every brand I can think of, and now I use canon but tell my friends to buy Nikon when they ask. There's lots of good stuff, and the wifi gps stuff is like heated seats in a car, its funky but its not why you buy the car, also the mp count is not so important, at least not as important as being in focus and having image stability. Just find a good camera you can afford.
