What's the point starting such a stupid thread?!? As Zac @plainsmun said, he was trying to teach something he thought could be useful. Perhaps he didn't use the right words and title (yes, ISSUE was perhaps not appropriate), but that's it!
I thought the Bokeh thread was informative and this Boquet thread hilarious. I didn't actually see the second one as necessarily belittling the first. Unfortunately I don't seem to have either a bokeh or bouquet shot to post here though...Maybe I'll check the Bogey thread!
Well, I'm glad most people have taken this is the spirit in which it was intended.
@plainsmun
Zac, you're clearly a much better photographer, and much more clued up about this stuff, than I am. I only started this thread for a laugh - luckily most people got that, and laughed along with it too. I don't think that renders your thread any less informative or educational at all.
Please, keep posting, keeping helping, keep educating. (I know I, for one, could definitely benefit from it!) But please don't be offended if other people just use the discussions for making jokes. ;)
To everyone else who has participated in this thread: thank you. Your flower photos are beautiful, and although this may have begun in silliness and spoofity, it has gone on to show, once again, what enormously talented photographers there are on 365.
I've enjoyed seeing all your pictures of bouquets (and other flower/flower-related pictures) and I hope to be able to see more.
@swilde Sue, there has been some debate as to whether or not "flowers still in the ground" constitute a REAL bouquet. Some people think they do, and others think they are wrong. I got very little resolution on my answer to that question, as well. Most disconcerting. :(
Well, there's a good chance I got it wrong on bouquet and bokeh, but this thread made me laugh...I was so happy to see all the lighter notes in the discussions tonight. And flowers!
@lbmcshutter I obviously was using it as a hyperbole. Although ironically, the fact that you’re trying to reprimand me for what I wrote is reminiscent of fascism.
I have quite a few boquet shots, I hope I have have used the term correctly :P I have also used the term 'posy' could you please define the difference for us? I use it for small boquets, but mybe I am wrong...
@brumbe Ha ha! What the hell is THAT?? It looks like grandpa shook his dandruff all over it!
LOL@scatochef Excellent point on the fascism!! :-) (bloody fascists!!)
Sadly, I have no photos of any boquet or bokeh OR broken bokeh OR a bokeh boquet! I must be the most seriously uncool 365er EVER!! Yes, exile me if you must! I'll be over in the corner starter a splitter group of bokehless, boquetlesss wanna bes!
@elke - Elke, when you look at a Hydrangea bloom, you are indeed seeing many individual flowers to make up that bloom, so yes, a Hydrangea is a bouquet, a bouquet of Hydrangea...
@scatochef Get real. Fascism is an authoritarian nationalist political ideology. @lbmcshutter is simply stating that you're going well over the top to define some people here as fascists. Her comment isn't "reminiscent of fascism"; get a history or political ideology book my friend and do some reading, because you're equating people with a radical and racist school of thought!
Sheesh, it's the nastiness that's been gradually creeping in to this site that's keeping me away from here...
@manek43509 And NOW I'm resisting the urge to go edit the page to say that a bouquet can either be cut or found still growing in the ground. Thanks. ;)
@buttercup I think you mean "I heart bokeh"?? Your bokeh is beautiful, but you seem to have missed the concept of a heart shape. Visual explanation can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_(symbol)
I would have given you a C+ for this effort, but as @jasehoad usefully explained, @photographyfascist is probably going to show up in this thread any moment and arrest both you and your seriously misplaced bokeh...if not all of us for inadvertently participating in your wild display of civil disobedience! Do you realise how selfish that is? I mean some of us have kiddies and everything..!!
My heart bokeh is a symbol of my love. Therefor it is allowed in this thread. Unless you are trying to suppress my individuality by being a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_(symbol) "facist" as describe here! I think in 365 we pretty much are are rule breakers. And that's for the best. We all need to be selfish here and take pictures of what ever we want take and to call them what ever the heck we want to call them. I already told you that to me bokeh is bokeh. I don't know DOF. That is why I am here-to learn. And, boy have I been learning these past few days!!!
@buttercup You also forgot to tag me in that reply. Another serious misdemeanor! Lucky I'm a Narcissist and a "photoraphyfascist" and checked anyway! ;-)
Yeah, you and I both! LOL!
@olivetreeann That is so beautiful! You have a very nice friend! @cooperdawg That is perfect! So pretty!! @tabbycat Poo bouquet!! Love it!! Bouquet also means fragrance so that' a double bouquet. Good thinking. lol
@plainsmun I read through and really appreciated reading what you had to say on your "bokeh issue" thread. I think the issue of bokeh turned an issue of how childish people get when you try to help them understand the correct terminology.
As for the rest of you, grow up. He was just trying to give out a piece of information to help those who don't understand a word they're misusing. Instead of cracking sarcastic jokes why not actually read and learn about what youre doing before you say breaking the rules makes you unique. To people who actually do know what they're doing, you all look like idiots.
@chaostheater Dear Steven, Please grow a sense of humour...it's just embarrassing until you do!
PS: I loved @plainsmun's thread and even thanked him for it, but that doesn't mean I need to acted all stressed out and have a humourectomy and stuff! Sheesh!!
@vikdaddy sigh. i spent a moment contemplating whether to take the high road and ignore what has become of my comments. but instead i'm going to be true to myself and plough ahead with this pointless argument.
First of all, thank you for the suggestion to read a book, you'll be glad to know that it is advice i am already adhering to because i've always been uncertain and discontent with the adequacies of my education.
Secondly, if it is not yet clear, i am aware of the literal definition of fascism. as i stated in my previous comment, i was using the word as a hyperbole. I assume you do not need "hyperbole" explained to you as you have shown an exemplary ability to use wikipedia. It suffices to say that at no point have i ever sincerely considered anyone here a fascist in the literal sense of the word.
...except maybe this person
To bring the discussion back on track, i find bokeh and bouquets quite uninteresting most of the time. Yet strangely enough, this has been one of the most entertaining threads that i've participated in :D
Lastly, i hope you realize that by insinuating that i am uneducated, you have contributed to the so called "nastiness" on 365 that you seem to loathe.
@scatochef Not sure how my post suggested I use Wikipedia?! Of course I know what 'hyperbole' means; believe it or not I work in the Communications Industry. I wasn't insinuating that you're uneducated, only that equating some people on here as "fascists" was ill-advised and, frankly, seemingly the act of somebody who doesn't know what the definition of fascism is. I don't think my response was nasty but your response is certainly scathing and childish... anyway, I'll leave it there. I don't want to go back and forth.
@chaostheater Dear Steven, WhatEVER!!
"To people who actually do know what they're doing, you all look like idiots."
Hmmm....it seems you're a little lacking on having respect for others too! I'm just your mirror, darling! Look into it and grow! :-) God really wants you to, because she really hates killing kittens!
@jasehoad Sounds like you need a spanking of your own, condescending young man! and don't think you are safe over there in Pommie land! I CAN HAZ AIRFAIR U NO?!! ;-)
@plainsmun Wait, ignore my smart arse remark, did you mean for that comment to go to arielle? You hit my reply link though, hence my reply, but you addressed it to arielle.#confused
Oh, and they were designed to be flowers in the reuseable kind of way
People can get so touchy.
For Kit.......

I am so pleased with my series "I am not bokeh" and now "I am not bouquet...at least until cut"

Love this thread! Funny as!

I don't know anything about the terminology - but I do like your photo. I wish I could take shots like that!
Yeah, you and I both! LOL!

Why can't I learn from Zac's thread, AND make sarcastic jokes?? They're not mutually exclusive activities, y'know.
I have never claimed that "breaking the rules makes me unique"; since photography has no "rules", that would be patently absurd.
@cluvlj
It's actually both.
DO YOU SEE HOW CONFUSING AN ISSUE THIS IS?! ;)

Absolutely! Great shot. :)
and I don't normally get to say that, being a 15 year old.
not even an "lol"
"To people who actually do know what they're doing, you all look like idiots."

@beautifulthing
@tabbycat
Now I'm lolling...
People can get so touchy"
as said by you.
Yes, arielle. Thank your for reminding me what I typed a couple days ago. I must have forgotten.
When this spoof thread was first started I logically assumed it was created by someone who took offense to my original thread. Thus, my comment.
After Kit @manek43509 explained himself I see there's no harm or foul.
You, however, just butted in for no apparent reason.
I just read through this behemoth.
I think I'll refrain from posting on the boards anymore and just stick with posting photos. This got ugly quick.
lol. That was my bad. Clicked the wrong reply.
