The "Bouquet" issue. PLEASE READ

December 20th, 2011
Many people are using the term "bouquet" incorrectly.

Well, they might be. Who knows? I've never seen it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Anyway, just to clear up the confusion, here is a photograph of a bouquet for you all.

December 20th, 2011
@manek43509 So this is close but not quite correct then?
December 20th, 2011
@manek43509 LOL!!! Hysterical!!! I wonder how many people will catch it? NO PUN INTENDED! (it was an accidental pun......the best kind)
December 20th, 2011
=)
December 20th, 2011
funny!
December 20th, 2011
Okay, so does this count. There is more than one "flower" a sprig or two of something, and babys breath plastic snow. I did an upclose shot though.

Oh, and they were designed to be flowers in the reuseable kind of way
December 20th, 2011
@manek43509 OMG, you rock!
December 20th, 2011
Beautiful DOF, Kit.
December 20th, 2011
Brilliant, I'm almost tempted to write a book ;)
December 20th, 2011
What about this then?
December 20th, 2011
Nice bokeh!
December 20th, 2011
Is this a bouquet? It seems to have a child growing out of it, but I think it might be a bouquet?

December 20th, 2011
@jasehoad And I will pay you money for that book, iof you tell me to!
December 20th, 2011
God forbid anyone try to help teach anything around here. You'll get a spoof thread started.

People can get so touchy.
December 20th, 2011
@manek43509 Totally brilliant Kit!! What can I say...having read the other threads....... :-))
December 20th, 2011
LOL
December 20th, 2011
@jasehoad hahahaha
December 20th, 2011
What's the point starting such a stupid thread?!? As Zac @plainsmun said, he was trying to teach something he thought could be useful. Perhaps he didn't use the right words and title (yes, ISSUE was perhaps not appropriate), but that's it!
December 20th, 2011

For Kit.......
December 20th, 2011
@scatcat it's called humour
December 20th, 2011
@5unflow3r I won't be signing it though :P
December 20th, 2011
@scatcat As I have never taken a bouquet photo I'm finding this thread most informative, or perhaps it just plain funny. I will let you decide ;)
December 20th, 2011
I'm guessing this covers all bases......

December 20th, 2011
Yeah.....Nice way to make someone feel welcome. :(
December 20th, 2011
@andycoleborn Well that's just a bit too flash for my liking !! lol Actually its really nice!
December 20th, 2011
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
December 20th, 2011
Now, does this count? Or because there's extraneous bouquet in the lower left, does that not qualify this as bouquet?

December 20th, 2011
you made me smile
December 20th, 2011
Great thread :)
December 20th, 2011
@manek43509 xoxo. :) I have no photos to contribute though - I only shoot single flowers.
December 20th, 2011
LOL
December 20th, 2011
That's funny. Good times, good times.
December 20th, 2011
@webfoot I believe that's actually broken boquet. Keep practicing, I'm sure you'll get it.
December 20th, 2011
OK HERE'S SOME BOUQUET-BOKEH !
December 20th, 2011
@jasehoad haha Epic.
December 20th, 2011
@buttercup Mary, you win the Internet today! I think I just spewed coffee on my monitor. :) This is awesome. :)
December 20th, 2011
Wait, wait, I found one! Is it a bouquet, though, if it's still growing out of the ground?? I want to do this right:

December 20th, 2011
@beautifulthing Thanks! I hope more 365ers see the humor in it. This has been funny discussion!
December 20th, 2011
@buttercup I agree!!
December 20th, 2011
@manek43509 Thanks, Kit! I needed that!
December 20th, 2011
@shutterbugger @beautifulthing @5unflow3r I think being in the ground makes them perfect for a bouquet so that they will be enjoyed later
December 20th, 2011
@brumbe :-)
December 20th, 2011
@manek43509 LMAO!! Thanks for clearing that up!!! ;o) Good one!! Thanks for starting my day with a good laugh!!!! :o)
December 20th, 2011
@5unflow3r awesome!!! :o)
December 20th, 2011
I thought the Bokeh thread was informative and this Boquet thread hilarious. I didn't actually see the second one as necessarily belittling the first. Unfortunately I don't seem to have either a bokeh or bouquet shot to post here though...Maybe I'll check the Bogey thread!
December 20th, 2011
@manek43509 this is the best thread yet!
December 20th, 2011
Here you are! (on my bike )
December 20th, 2011
LOL, very educating :)
December 20th, 2011
brilliant thread, made me laugh after a crappy day :D
December 20th, 2011
Hah! Excellent thread, laughed so hard.
December 20th, 2011
i learned so much from this experience.
December 20th, 2011
Well, I'm glad most people have taken this is the spirit in which it was intended.

@plainsmun
Zac, you're clearly a much better photographer, and much more clued up about this stuff, than I am. I only started this thread for a laugh - luckily most people got that, and laughed along with it too. I don't think that renders your thread any less informative or educational at all.

Please, keep posting, keeping helping, keep educating. (I know I, for one, could definitely benefit from it!) But please don't be offended if other people just use the discussions for making jokes. ;)
December 20th, 2011
hahahaha. well played sir. we need more people like you instead of photography fascists who insist on airing their grievances on bokeh vs DOF etc.
December 20th, 2011
Well to me one hydrangea flower is a "bouquet" in itself ;-))

December 20th, 2011
To everyone else who has participated in this thread: thank you. Your flower photos are beautiful, and although this may have begun in silliness and spoofity, it has gone on to show, once again, what enormously talented photographers there are on 365.

I've enjoyed seeing all your pictures of bouquets (and other flower/flower-related pictures) and I hope to be able to see more.
December 21st, 2011
hilarious
December 21st, 2011
I'm not sure if this is a bouquet or not...Could you please critique it
December 21st, 2011
@swilde Sue, there has been some debate as to whether or not "flowers still in the ground" constitute a REAL bouquet. Some people think they do, and others think they are wrong. I got very little resolution on my answer to that question, as well. Most disconcerting. :(
December 21st, 2011
lol Kit, I think that this thread is funny and that @plainsmun did a brilliant job at explaining the difference...well done to the both of you:):)
December 21st, 2011
@manek43509

I am so pleased with my series "I am not bokeh" and now "I am not bouquet...at least until cut"

@grammyn @brumbe @5unflow3r @jasehoad @stepheesue @beautifulthing @swilde @buttercup @webfoot @andycoleborn
December 21st, 2011
Well, there's a good chance I got it wrong on bouquet and bokeh, but this thread made me laugh...I was so happy to see all the lighter notes in the discussions tonight. And flowers!

December 21st, 2011
@scatochef do you seriously think it is OK to call people on here fascists?
December 21st, 2011
@lbmcshutter I obviously was using it as a hyperbole. Although ironically, the fact that you’re trying to reprimand me for what I wrote is reminiscent of fascism.
December 21st, 2011
I have quite a few boquet shots, I hope I have have used the term correctly :P
I have also used the term 'posy' could you please define the difference for us? I use it for small boquets, but mybe I am wrong...

December 21st, 2011
I read this instead of my morning comic strip! You guys rock the funny :)
December 21st, 2011
@elke Excellent point! My thoughts exactly!!

@brumbe Ha ha! What the hell is THAT?? It looks like grandpa shook his dandruff all over it!

LOL@scatochef Excellent point on the fascism!! :-) (bloody fascists!!)

Sadly, I have no photos of any boquet or bokeh OR broken bokeh OR a bokeh boquet! I must be the most seriously uncool 365er EVER!! Yes, exile me if you must! I'll be over in the corner starter a splitter group of bokehless, boquetlesss wanna bes!
December 21st, 2011
@elke - Elke, when you look at a Hydrangea bloom, you are indeed seeing many individual flowers to make up that bloom, so yes, a Hydrangea is a bouquet, a bouquet of Hydrangea...

Love this thread! Funny as!
December 21st, 2011
@scatochef Get real. Fascism is an authoritarian nationalist political ideology. @lbmcshutter is simply stating that you're going well over the top to define some people here as fascists. Her comment isn't "reminiscent of fascism"; get a history or political ideology book my friend and do some reading, because you're equating people with a radical and racist school of thought!

Sheesh, it's the nastiness that's been gradually creeping in to this site that's keeping me away from here...
December 21st, 2011
Wikipedia (that ever-reliable source of information) defines a bouquet as "an arrangement of cut flowers". Just so y'know.
December 21st, 2011
@tabbycat fake snow that is all eco friendly. Or shredded plastic bags. If you look closely my bouquet is made up of plastic spoons too.
December 21st, 2011
@manek43509 I firmly protect my right to quote wikipedia any time I so choose.
December 21st, 2011
@manek43509 And NOW I'm resisting the urge to go edit the page to say that a bouquet can either be cut or found still growing in the ground. Thanks. ;)
December 21st, 2011
@swilde Since I like to make all rules up as I go for this site. Yes it counts, hell, I put up a bouquet of plastic spoons and fake snow.
December 21st, 2011
I love me some bokeh! (Hope I have my terms correct today)
December 21st, 2011
@buttercup Posting "Bokeh" shots in a Bouquet thread is gonna end in tears ;)
December 21st, 2011
Oooh...can we call it "bokeh" still if we put it in quotes??
December 21st, 2011
@jasehoad @jasehoad Here we go with more rules!
December 21st, 2011
@buttercup But the more rules there are, the more we can break :)
December 21st, 2011
@brumbe Oh. Well, I'm all bout eco friendly, so I heartily approve! :-)
December 21st, 2011
@buttercup I think you mean "I heart bokeh"?? Your bokeh is beautiful, but you seem to have missed the concept of a heart shape. Visual explanation can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_(symbol)
I would have given you a C+ for this effort, but as @jasehoad usefully explained, @photographyfascist is probably going to show up in this thread any moment and arrest both you and your seriously misplaced bokeh...if not all of us for inadvertently participating in your wild display of civil disobedience! Do you realise how selfish that is? I mean some of us have kiddies and everything..!!
December 21st, 2011
My heart bokeh is a symbol of my love. Therefor it is allowed in this thread. Unless you are trying to suppress my individuality by being a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_(symbol) "facist" as describe here! I think in 365 we pretty much are are rule breakers. And that's for the best. We all need to be selfish here and take pictures of what ever we want take and to call them what ever the heck we want to call them. I already told you that to me bokeh is bokeh. I don't know DOF. That is why I am here-to learn. And, boy have I been learning these past few days!!!
December 21st, 2011
Sometimes bouquets happen when you least expect them. This one was left at my doorstep.
December 21st, 2011
@buttercup
I don't know anything about the terminology - but I do like your photo. I wish I could take shots like that!
December 21st, 2011
So this works, right?

December 22nd, 2011
@cooperdawg You sir have truly mastered Bouquet
December 22nd, 2011
Is it still a "Bouquet" when it's having a poo?
December 22nd, 2011
@buttercup You also forgot to tag me in that reply. Another serious misdemeanor! Lucky I'm a Narcissist and a "photoraphyfascist" and checked anyway! ;-)
Yeah, you and I both! LOL!
December 22nd, 2011
@olivetreeann That is so beautiful! You have a very nice friend! @cooperdawg That is perfect! So pretty!! @tabbycat Poo bouquet!! Love it!! Bouquet also means fragrance so that' a double bouquet. Good thinking. lol
December 22nd, 2011
I love that the members of this site always know how to bring balance to the force. :o)
December 22nd, 2011
@manek43509 lol! I love it!
December 22nd, 2011
@dweezie All our farces are purrfectly balanced
December 22nd, 2011
@plainsmun I read through and really appreciated reading what you had to say on your "bokeh issue" thread. I think the issue of bokeh turned an issue of how childish people get when you try to help them understand the correct terminology.

As for the rest of you, grow up. He was just trying to give out a piece of information to help those who don't understand a word they're misusing. Instead of cracking sarcastic jokes why not actually read and learn about what youre doing before you say breaking the rules makes you unique. To people who actually do know what they're doing, you all look like idiots.
December 22nd, 2011
@buttercup Ha ha! Nice one! :-)
December 22nd, 2011
@chaostheater Dear Steven, Please grow a sense of humour...it's just embarrassing until you do!
PS: I loved @plainsmun's thread and even thanked him for it, but that doesn't mean I need to acted all stressed out and have a humourectomy and stuff! Sheesh!!
December 22nd, 2011
I thought bouquet was the essence of the perfume or aroma of a good bottle of wine. Now it's flowers. I will never be able to do "bouquet"!
December 22nd, 2011
@tabbycat Dear Tabitha, please grow a sence of respect. You've obviously missed the point.
December 22nd, 2011
@chaostheater
Why can't I learn from Zac's thread, AND make sarcastic jokes?? They're not mutually exclusive activities, y'know.

I have never claimed that "breaking the rules makes me unique"; since photography has no "rules", that would be patently absurd.

@cluvlj
It's actually both.

DO YOU SEE HOW CONFUSING AN ISSUE THIS IS?! ;)
December 22nd, 2011
@jasehoad Why thank you.....
December 22nd, 2011
@chaostheater No it is most definitely you who have missed the point of this thread
December 22nd, 2011
you have inspired me....here is my hybrid...
December 22nd, 2011
@vikdaddy sigh. i spent a moment contemplating whether to take the high road and ignore what has become of my comments. but instead i'm going to be true to myself and plough ahead with this pointless argument.

First of all, thank you for the suggestion to read a book, you'll be glad to know that it is advice i am already adhering to because i've always been uncertain and discontent with the adequacies of my education.

Secondly, if it is not yet clear, i am aware of the literal definition of fascism. as i stated in my previous comment, i was using the word as a hyperbole. I assume you do not need "hyperbole" explained to you as you have shown an exemplary ability to use wikipedia. It suffices to say that at no point have i ever sincerely considered anyone here a fascist in the literal sense of the word.

...except maybe this person

To bring the discussion back on track, i find bokeh and bouquets quite uninteresting most of the time. Yet strangely enough, this has been one of the most entertaining threads that i've participated in :D

Lastly, i hope you realize that by insinuating that i am uneducated, you have contributed to the so called "nastiness" on 365 that you seem to loathe.
December 22nd, 2011
@cooperdawg
Absolutely! Great shot. :)
December 22nd, 2011
Because this is so very, very mature...

and I don't normally get to say that, being a 15 year old.
December 22nd, 2011

December 22nd, 2011
@scatochef Not sure how my post suggested I use Wikipedia?! Of course I know what 'hyperbole' means; believe it or not I work in the Communications Industry. I wasn't insinuating that you're uneducated, only that equating some people on here as "fascists" was ill-advised and, frankly, seemingly the act of somebody who doesn't know what the definition of fascism is. I don't think my response was nasty but your response is certainly scathing and childish... anyway, I'll leave it there. I don't want to go back and forth.
December 22nd, 2011
Cam
LOL!!! Have people on here got too much time? Funny topic but hilarious thread :D
December 22nd, 2011
@chaostheater it's too bad you can't take a joke.
December 22nd, 2011
@plainsmun if anyone is touchy it's you.
not even an "lol"
December 22nd, 2011
@chaostheater Dear Steven, WhatEVER!!
"To people who actually do know what they're doing, you all look like idiots."
Hmmm....it seems you're a little lacking on having respect for others too! I'm just your mirror, darling! Look into it and grow! :-) God really wants you to, because she really hates killing kittens!

@beautifulthing
December 22nd, 2011
@tabbycat God has had to kill so many kittens today she's getting NUMB.
December 22nd, 2011
Look! See what you've done now @chaostheater..!!

December 22nd, 2011
@chaostheater Spanked by a chick, now there is definitely something to be learnt there dude

@tabbycat
December 22nd, 2011
@jasehoad Sounds like you need a spanking of your own, condescending young man! and don't think you are safe over there in Pommie land! I CAN HAZ AIRFAIR U NO?!! ;-)
December 22nd, 2011
@tabbycat BLAH BLAH BLAH, didja hear that ;)
December 23rd, 2011
May be just close the thread now.......we all know the difference now, I enjoyed both threads.
December 23rd, 2011
@gypsylady So your judging my intranet tone by the absence of me typing lol?

Now I'm lolling...
December 23rd, 2011
is this right???? I'm so confused :P
December 23rd, 2011
This site can be so catty at times. This was definitely good for a laugh!
December 23rd, 2011
@plainsmun "God forbid anyone try to help teach anything around here. You'll get a spoof thread started.

People can get so touchy"

as said by you.
December 23rd, 2011
@gypsylady

Yes, arielle. Thank your for reminding me what I typed a couple days ago. I must have forgotten.

When this spoof thread was first started I logically assumed it was created by someone who took offense to my original thread. Thus, my comment.

After Kit @manek43509 explained himself I see there's no harm or foul.

You, however, just butted in for no apparent reason.
December 23rd, 2011
Jesus.

I just read through this behemoth.

I think I'll refrain from posting on the boards anymore and just stick with posting photos. This got ugly quick.
December 23rd, 2011
@plainsmun Sorry. I do apologise. I was under the impression this was an open disscussion. Clearly, I was mistaken.
December 23rd, 2011
@plainsmun Wait, ignore my smart arse remark, did you mean for that comment to go to arielle? You hit my reply link though, hence my reply, but you addressed it to arielle.#confused
December 23rd, 2011
@alk1991

lol. That was my bad. Clicked the wrong reply.
