The days are all running into one and the differentiation between weekends and week days is no longer. We haven’t been going out every day as sometimes it is too stressful negotiating past people who don’t seem to realise that we are in the grips of a pandemic or what 2 meters looks like. This has taken its toll on Colin’s long standing stenosis of the back and he is suffering badly with certain symptoms. I am pretty sure it is related to a decrease in our daily exercise or simply being able to freely move about the place. We have a plan of action to contact his consultant just to check he thinks we can leave going into hospital but I do think that if we can try and up our exercise by simply walking more this will help the situation. I really do not want to have to go to hospital at the moment although we have heard from a number of people that contrary to what I had imagined, the departments outside of the intensive care units are virtually empty.
We made a point of walking to Bushy Park today and even made it into the Pheasantry which is stunning at this time of year. The trees are bright green as they come into leaf and the colours seem even brighter than usual. There are birds nesting and duckling and goslings everywhere. Colin bought some bird seed and we fed the ducks and I even hand fed a Canada Goose and was able to stroke it at the same time. We checked on the moorhen and we can still see her beak peeping out of the reeds as she sits with her brood and the coot is still sitting on her nest.
We definitely felt better after our walk and we managed well over 10,000 footsteps for the first time in ages. Lamb steak on our griddle with my home made mint sauce to use up the massive growth of mint in our herb bed.
