1st May 2020

Day 39 of lock down.

1st of May so 'White Rabbits' to everyone and todays images is rather apt!!

I managed to sort out the hiccup with Octopus Energy for the second time in two months and all is well. I posted the family shoot voucher that a past client had asked for as a present for her mother’s 70th birthday and it should arrive in good time. I spent literals hours trying to contact AirB&B regarding refund of the service charges deducted but to no avail. I will not give up!

The day went rather downhill at this point. I decided that I am getting pretty tired of cooking every single night so I wanted to pick up a Chinese or Thai meal. Our favourite Chinese take-away - China Garden - in the High Street has been closed for months so M&S is the next best place for this. I was wary of problems with customers totally ignoring the social distancing. I queued outside which was not too bad but once inside it was manic. Not only was it busy anyway, over 50% of people totally ignored the social distancing restrictions and pushed past or stood for ages in the way. I was fuming. Once out of the shop and walking back it was almost like a normal day with people having forgotten the distancing in the High Street and then up Watts Lane, the neighbours were stood chatting away and made no sign to move when I approached so I had to ask them to step aside. By the the time I got back in the house I was so stressed that when Colin asked how it was outside, I told him every detail during a meltdown - don’t think he will be asking again in the future. I honestly felt awful, so stressed and angry. This lock down and some peoples refusal to understand what we are up against has clearly been getting at me. Even after a cup of tea and an entire Topic bar I did not feel much better.

We did go out for a walk which was probably a good thing for momental health and we went through the Pheasantry where I spotted this baby rabbit. He made me feel a little better at the end of the day.

We did have the Thai meal that I risked life and limb for in M&S and a large glass of lager as well which I felt I very much needed - not a good day today.
