24th April 2021

1 year, 30 days since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020.

Well, today was all rather exciting. First thing first and the doorbell went at about 11.20am and on the door mat was a box of delicious smelling cinnamon rolls - as the woman who delivered them was in a hurry I just had tome to shout thank you before she disappeared to her next delivery. I can confirm that they tasted even better than they looked and we enjoyed them with our barista brewed coffee outside on the table on the patio.

Second excitement of the day. We always listen to Simon Calder’s travel broadcast on FaceBook via the Independent paper page and I noticed on Twitter that he was hoping to be able to broadcast from the Jubilee pool in Penzance today. I tipped Mum off in the hope she could pop along and appear in the background. She did one better than that and had quite a long chat live with Simon and even advised him where he could get his lunch. It was amazing seeing Mum live and Simon even mentioned her and me at the end of his broadcast. This photo is what we are very much hoping we will be able to do in June!

Last good thing of the day, a few days earlier I had been looking at one of the mud larks Twitter accounts that I follow and she mentioned a lecture by fellow mud larker (and architect) Jason Sandy to be broadcast live via Zoom at 3.00pm on Saturday afternoon. It was a free lecture but. Made a donation towards the Emery Walker Foundation near Hammersmith.

The lecture was excellent and went on for over an hour and a half. Jason has tips for mud larkers which I carefully noted down and had some photos of some impressive finds. Colin and I are now itching to get out on our next adventure on the Thames although it is clear that we are going to have to get rather muddy to make those special finds.
