Blue Dog, Cajun Red by eudora

Blue Dog, Cajun Red

The University of Louisiana, Lafayette football team honors Cajun artist George Rodrigue with small Blue Dog decals on their helmets. Rodrigue, famous for his paintings of Louisiana and the Blue Dog, died on December 14, 2013. He was a prolific, world-famous artist who gave much back to the community.

A teacher once told him to stop doodling....

Great tribute to George Rodrigue, I love the Blue Dog paintings. Also love them Ragin Cajuns. What a game it was! ! !

@madeline515 Thanks, Madeline. Were you at the game? It was our grandson's last game. What an experience--the French Quarter was filled with Ragin Cajuns!

Massively dominant one color in this picture and yet it works. It's almost as if the white writing on the helmets balances the red. I would have dismissed the blue dog as an advertising logo without your lovely story.

It's a good thing Rodrigue didn't listen to that teacher. I like how this shot puts you in the middle of the team. Good shot!
