In memory of the victims of the Orlando shooting. We are praying for them, their families and friends.
We live 90 miles from Orlando and in the same town where the shooter lived, Fort Pierce, Florida. Somehow, that makes it. . . closer, like maybe we could have done something to prevent this tragedy.
I talked to a woman today whose gay son lives in Orlando. He has never gone to clubs, but when she could not reach him this morning by phone, she feared the worst. He was safe, at work. Forty-nine other mothers were not as lucky.
@allie912 Thanks for the fav! Were you in Florida when the Orlando shooting occurred? I'm not sure why, since each of the mass shootings has been horrendous, but this one seemed to effect us more because it was so close.
@eudora Yes we were, and Gainesville is about 100 miles from Orlando, The fact that many comments brought up the Virginia Tech shootings gave it a special poignancy since that occurred a few hours from our home in Richmond.
